When a GMC is "labelled" from the factory as a "Painted Desert" (or whatever), does that indicate the floor plan as well as the color scheme, or just the color scheme?

I'm no expert, but I believe it's just the decor. I've seen other model coaches with the identical floor plan to ours, and I've seen other "Palm Beach"s with different floor plans.

The model name (Painted Desert et.al.) denotes the INTERIOR fabrics & colors, not the floor plans and not always the exterior color.
Please see this link for details. The photo showing the exterior colors also has a chart showing which colors went with which models (1973-74).

This link shows the interiors:

For 1975-78 the model "generally" denoted the exterior color with some exceptions, ie, Palm beach & Eleganze II came in their "standard" colors but were also available in white with the standard stripe color.
Transmode exterior colors varied by year and model.
1973-74 the same model names were used for both 23' & 26'
1975-78 all 23' were Transmodes
Note: there are some exceptions to the above but more details will only confuse.

ahamilto wrote on Thu, 05 April 2012 20:21 | So to sum up in one sentence: The name assigned from the manufacturer/upfitter applies to interior color scheme only, and does NOT apply to either the floorplan or the exterior color(s).
Did I get that right?

Correct, as long as you keep the "with some exceptions" that someone else noted.
