The automated manual transmsission is by far the biggest downfall of this car. It's very slow and indecisive. Additionally the fuel economy is pitifull. It has no redeaming factors in this country. In Europe, where parking is a problem, it does offer some slight appeal'

Not true ROBERT.... I watched a show where they did a 65MPH crash test into cement traffic barriers... believe it or not, the Smart car frame kept its shape where the occupant would not have been crushed or injured by the frame collapsing, the frame held its shape, pretty much....
Wasn't much front end left though.....
