Hey Everyone! I'm Dave Skowron form Ely, Nevada. Maybe some of you have
been through here. My wife and I were just given a '76 GMC motorhome as
a gift from the in-laws. We just need to get down to Vegas to pick it up
and drive it back up here. It needs a little work here and there, but
it's in great shape otherwise. I know next to nothing about it. I also
know next to nothing about this list so my first question is, "How do I
post a picture to show you all what I have"?

Thanks in advance for putting up with me.

I can't help w/the posting pix, but you're welcome to ask other questions on here and maybe we can help w/them. All the rest of the country and Canada will also join in. It's a great group.

Thanks George. Looks like the GMC is a very well represented motor
coach. I've not yet read anything bad about them. I see one every now
and then here in Ely. Lots of people travel through on their way to
civilization.

Dave, to upload photos at the photo site you sign up at:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/register.php
and you learn how using this tutorial:

I use Picasa export to make the photos small enough that they upload quickly and don't take too much space.

Thanks! We have not yet taken possession of the coach - in fact I have
never seen it in person. They bought it a few months ago and decided it
wasn't right for them. I do know that there is a fuel-filter issue and a
tuneup that needs to be done - other than that I know nothing about it.
Last night they told us we could have it if we pay the repair bill. Of
course we jumped on it.

Sir: the GMC has 2 fuel tanks and the pickups can get stopped up with stuff in the tank setteling from the new fuel we have to burn. Best is to remove tanks, clean and replace all the fuel lines with ethenol friendly fuel hose. But in the mean time to get it under its own power.. The 2 fuel lines join in a switching valve inside the frame rail in front of the rear wheels on the drivers side. there are 2 inlets from the tanks and one outlet to motor. This is 3/8 rubber line. About a foot or so past the switching valve cut the rubber line and take shop air and blow back thru the valve into the tank a couple of good bursts, remove gas cap first for pressure releaf, then switch the aux fuel switch on the dash with the key on and blow back thru the other tank. In the cut line put a clear in line 3/8 fuel filter. Now go to the carb and remove the inlet fuel line and replace the filter noting how it comes out, be sure to use a back up wrench on the carb & line. This should get you home, maybe carry a few extra inline filters. Look at it every couple hundred miles and see how much stuff you get. Good Luck.

Find the black list or maybe someone here lives nearby the coach and run through a punch list of the common issues before you hit the road. That is a nice looking coach. One thing for sure, you WILL learn about these things if you own one.

Oooo that's a beauty!  Look in the passenger side hood and find the patent plate riveted to the firewall.  Report the VIN - it will start with TZE - and get the coach in the Registry igf it isn't already.  On the glove box door there opughta be a sticker with the VIN, mopdel number, and a lot of other stuff.  Someplace - Bdub's maybe  - there's a link to how to decipher all of it.

May I suggest, ensure the mechanic has some experience working on these toys.  They have their quirks.

Dave,

To upload pictures on the GMC Photo Site you will have to register first.

When you fill in your Username keep in mind that if you choose something
unique and not your name people will have difficulty finding photos you
upload.

When I first registered I used relleumt which is my name backwards, sort of.
I got so frustrated trying to find pictures other GMCer's had posted I
decided to change it to Mueller R.

I do now worry about Interpol finding me so I am careful what photos I post!
;-)

Once you're registered you can click on the link below and follow J Harpers
step by step procedure which will walk you through how to upload photos:
