Mac,

We are holed up for the night in Shamrock TX and will leave for Shawnee early tomorrow morning. Our plan is to take I-40 to I-44, to I-240, back to I-40 on to Shawnee. Is this the best route? Or can you suggest a better way? Any construction restrictions that you know of? We also plan to gas up in OK City. Do you have a favorite place with good access and pricing along the route?

Thanks form Shamrock!

Carl, Mac is here tonight. I think he is going back home to get his coach but may not see this before you get here. I have no clue myself.

Hi, Carl.

I just posted a note that should give you the info you requested.

I really suggest the straight through I-40 routing if you can
use Sam's for gas. The I-240 route of YOUR plan is okay, but
the Wal-Mart gas stop CAN be a problem getting back on I-240
but should not be terribly bad on a Sunday morning. The NEW
I-40 across OKC is completely open now, 5x5 lanes wide in
some places and bypasses the old elevated I-40 which is now
being demolished. A MUCH improved route, for sure.

Gotta get to bed and get busy in the A.M. to try to make "The
Money Pit" usable to hopefully make the 29 miles to the rally!

Thanks, Mac.

We will stay on I-40 then. We had mixed success with Sam's for Gas. Las Cruces had long lines at every pump (we were there at about noon) and Roswell was easy and empty (we got there early). We'll play the gas thing by ear.

Looking forward to meeting you in person.
