I am planning to fly into Salt Lake City to attend the Speed Week activities in Bonneville this August. Unfortunately, driving my GMC is not an option (I will be leaving from Maine). I think that renting a motorhome for 2 - 3 days would be a good way to go.

I have never rented a motorhome and I'm looking for tips and/or suggestions from those who have been there and done that.

All comments welcomed.

I would rent from a known name such as Cruise America rather than a local outfit. I've done both and you never know what you may end up with from a local rental outfit--usually junk. Also, be specific when it comes to bedding, utensils, generator usage so that you don't have any unexpected charges. Also, be open about how and where you will be using it since companies can have some strange usage restrictions. If you will be flying in, ask about pick up arrangements.

I steer people towards Cruise America cos they7're dog friendl;y.  However, I'd check with the SLC dealers - might find one wioth a tradein he'll rent for a weekend.

My experience with renting a motorhome is rather old. It's been a while.
However, I had good luck with a local renter because I had confirmed the
make, model and age of the unit and been assured that it would be in tip-top
shape.

A nephew rented a couple of years ago. He said the unit was fine and
everything worked. He and his family just aren't into the RV lifestyle so
much.

Cruise America, based on what I heard from a couple last year, will attempt
to make things right. However, since they're units are class C units the
construction of the vehicle itself may not be what you want.

Doing a search El Monte, whom I have heard of, is near the SLC airport and
rents motorhomes. They don't show any photos on their website.

Pappy's does show a variety of images and styles on their website. The have
class A gas and class C gas motorhomes. You can check availability on their
website. Their website lists a promotion through the 31st - rent seven days
and pay for five.

Access RV shows they rent in SLC, Jackson and Portland. They show a newer
Georgetown class A in gas.
