I am looking to replace the large sliding window next to the dinette. Ours has a very deep scratch. So if you are one of those that has replaced your windows with the newer style windows and wish to see one of your windows go to a new home, please contact me.

I believe it has been mentioned here that they are not interchangeable between passenger and driver's side, but there is a driver's side window in Chicago on ebay for $65 (from a 1974 model).

Why are they "not" interchangeable? They look the same size. If you took the window from the drivers side and put it in the passenger side, the window would slide back allowing the screen to be open without the door (when it is all of the way open against the coach) interfering with air passage through the coach.

Are the windows the same from 74-78??

It looks to me like if you rotate it end-for-end, rain would tend to blow in the gap between the panes. If you flip it over to counteract that, the curve of the body might not line up. I don't know for sure. I also don't know how much difference there is between the year model windows.
UPDATE:
Sully says he has had luck interchanging glass on his 77 from side-to-side. Michael at GEMRECS has seen windows from new ones on old GMCS, but not the other way around.

I assume it is one of the glass panels that is scratched. If so replace only that panel not the frame. The panels are identical from side to side. The fixed panel is identical for all years. The movable penal is different in later years, I think from 75 on. The difference is in where the holes for the window latch are located.

Just wondering if you found your window.   We recently replaced ours with newer ones.  We are located in Monticello, FL.

Larry,

We recently replaced the passenger side window on Alan's '76 coach
with one in much better condition which I received in a crate when I
bought that coach 6 years or so ago. The removed window could have
been rebuilt pretty easily. I just measured and it appears that the
latch is centered top-to-bottom so that the sliding pane could be used
on either side.

If I get all the kinks out of the Cad (I've apparently blown an
ignition module now), I could bring it to Shawnee if you like.
Someone will have to tell me how to remove the sliding panel without
destroying the whole assembly if you want only the sliding panel.

Thanks, Dan. If we'd known it was that easy, we might have rebuilt it
in place instead of replacing it. :-)

Well, if you can get all of the kinks out and still have time to include it with all the other stuff you need to pack, sure...I'd take it. My window is OK accept for the deep scratch. Just want to get rid of that. Thanks much.
