So I was replacing my OEM air bags on my 73-23 with non-OEM bags, because
the OEM bags will allow the tire to hit the wheel liner and caused damage,
shown here:
http://goo.gl/8QShB.

so I thought, what do OEM bags cost these days? None of our vendors list a
price.
So I called "an old vendor" and asked them what a new OEM air bag cost,
today ???

one OEM air bag = $809 each with cones !

for that much money I got a new system for the whole coach:
2 air bags (not OEM)
4 cones
2 schrader and shutoff assemblies
1 wireless air system with controls and pump
http://gmcmotorhome.info/wireless.html

sometimes change is good

Just bought a brand new one with cones for $150. Don't get me wrong, I like all of the alternatives and it gives us choices, but the originals will be around for longer than I'll be alive.

A little story,
I've have a pair of brand new bags on the shelve for at least 10 years.
The airbags on my coach are over 10 years now but in great shape.
The bags on the shelf have been recycled several times. Everytime
Applied GMC oversold their inventory, Nick would call me and ask to
recycle my inventory. After the last batch was made, I got my two bags
back (the ones on the shelve now) but, after a few months, Nick called
to recycle my inventory.

Bob,

I agree, The Blue Streak has Leon Harrison's system and I like the way it
drives. I came up with a prophylactic fix for the forward plate bending; put
a 1 1/4" piece of hardwood between the uprights.

There's a picture under Mueller R on the photosite for those of you that are
interested.

The OEM bag I bought had cones too. John Sharpe got one last year from an ex
GMCer up in San Antonio for the same price. He was even luckier; he got a
bunch of other good stuff too!

Regards,
Rob M.

When we bought our '74 it came with a bunch of "spare" parts. Turned out the "spares" were not spare but items needed but not yet installed. EXCEPT for the 4 spare airbags. 3 new in the boxes, two of those with aluminum cones. The bags on the '74 were in good condition but with plastic cones (since swapped out for the Aluminum ones). Some days ya win. (the bags on the '75 also look good but have not yet been removed and inspected.)
