Thanks for the replies that was the video. I saved the location to a note
book so I will have it next time, or if anyone else needs to know.
I am just amazed how Rob seems to always comes up with the right info in a
short amount of time!

thanks for the offer though.

Bruce,

Thanks for the compliment, as a Field Rep for Hamilton Standard I did it
professionally for thirty years!

For some reason my grey matter data base index of GMC reference material has
escaped the ravages of CRS and CRAFT! ;-)

Mike, Gene and others are real good at remembering where good info is
stashed! Gene especially he's constantly updating his website with new
goodies.

I would say something nice about JimK but if I do I'm afraid his head will
swell up and burst! ;-)

Regards,
Rob M.

Bruce;
Dave Lenzi has developed an newer style of putting the knuckle, bearings & hub back together. He installs the outer seal and bolts the three bolt retaining ring onto the knuckle that has the bearings installed. He then presses the knuckle with the outer seal and retainer ring unto the hub. Make sure the retainer has the tabs bent to the correct pre-load on the seal/bearings. You need to have an adapter that presses on the inner race of the bearings to do this, most pullers will have one already. A lot more control of assembly doing it this way. This will be one of the things to look at his presentation at Shawnee Convention coming up in a few weeks.

BUT, do you have access to the guide tool for drilling the hole for a zerk to grease the bearing without disassembly?

It just doesn't seem to be the best use of time to NOT do it when you have the knuckle disassembled.

Bruce,

A just-in-case note:

When the Zerk was installed, the spacer between the bearings should
have been modified with grooves on its outer circumference. Don't
forget to modify the NEW spacer in the same way. DO NOT be tempted to
use the old, already modified, spacer with the new bearings -- that
would very likely upset the necessary pre-load on the bearings.
