It's removable to open the car door.

I have a motorcycle trailer that does that. Tilt it, ride up and let
it flop level. Nice and easy.

Terry,
These are a lot less complicated:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZpizi8Kj_A&feature=related
Much less expensive too. One thing that is not shown in the vid is that
the fenders are held on with quick disconnects to allow the doors to open
for access and egress. Extremely low profile makes them a dream to tow.

I just sold a Jim-Glo like that and with the box on the front and a spare
tire it weighed over 1900 pounds. It was well made and easy to use, but
because it's steel tubing, it is heavy. Also expensive. I paid over $5,000
for mine 5 years ago and they're more costly now. If I were to get another,
it'd probably be a Carson 16 foot with a wood floor and ramps. Not as nifty
but only about 1,300 pounds and probably around $2,000.

I'd never part with my Jim-Glo. It is simply the finest car hauler I've
ever owned and has the lowest approach of any trailer out there.
They bring a small fortune used so I hope you parted with yours for a
large contribution to your 401K!

Here's another - if you have a Lotus 7 or similarly light weight car. Simple is good.

I recall, he asks a pricy $3,000. for these.

PS: That JimGlo deal is pretty neat.

I asked (and got) $4500. The new owner lives a mile and a half from here.
When we made the deal, I told him it was contingent on letting me rent it
from him maybe once or twice a year, which is all I used it anyway. He was
fine with that and said I could just use it when I wanted to. I'll pay rent,
I'll feel better about it. Now, storing it is his problem, not mine!!!

Same here we have owned our Jim-Glo for over five years and still think its
the best enclosed car hauler on the market.
The quality, The front door, The removable fender, and rear gate are
features that work for us.
My neighbor used it last week to run over to Yuma and back for a Model "A"
and Model "T" show and now he and his buddy's want to buy a Jim-Glo trailer.
Jim and his wife Gloria are car people and know how to build trailers that
work.
Ours was custom built with a higher roof to haul our 1950 Chevy P/U.
Yes the cost is higher, but worth the cost.
We paid just short of $10,000 and would do it again
