Hey All;
Diana and I (and the three dogs) are currently in CA visiting the
kids. We are in the Stretch parked next to a friends house in the
middle of an almond orchard. I have the coach leveled out with the
jack hooks and the hydraulic jacks and all of the air out of the bags.
At some time last night, the coach fell off of the jacks. Everything
went CRASH, and all three Jack Russell terriers started barking and
yapping. To say the least, we woke up. Things were tossed about, but
the worst of it is that the driver's side windshield is shattered.
Does anyone have the windshield part number so I can start calling
auto glass places to see about having this thing fixed? Was hoping to
start heading home tomorrow, but I think we just might be stuck here
for a few more days. Thanks...

I would suggest you call Jim K. seeing as you are in CA. Jim may also be able to reccomend a mobile installer that will come to your location.

Call JimK. I think he stocks them and can ship to you or maybe deliver if
you are close to Fremont.

Gary,
If you can see to drive safely and will be passing through Eugene, Ore. on the way home call Olsen's Glass.
They have the glass locally- no packing and shipping cost and no sales tax.
Call ahead and they will have it waiting for you. About a one hour install while you wait.
Been there twice.

I think JimB also has a company that installs GMC windshields across the country. If you're close to Freemont, definitely call JimK for help.
For an experienced glass installer, I guess it's not that bad a job. I had one installed last winter, and the fellow installed it in no time at all.

The windshields are made in Owatana, MN. They are stocked in 4 locations around the US. The closest to you is Phoenix,AZ and Eugene, Oregon. The other two are Elkhart, IN and Lakeland, Fl.
Have you installed contact one of those location and have one shipped. Our local warehouse place usually stock 5 of each side. At the last GMCMI rally we had them deliver 13 sets on a one week notice so they can react quickly if necessary.
Get your local installer to tell the insurance company that he will procure the glass locally and then have him contact the warehouse directly.
NAGS Part numbers are 832GTN and 833GTN I forget which is left and right. The GTN suffix says Green Tint. I have seen some clear ones that were installed years ago but GTN is all I have seen available in the last 10 years.
We are working with the manufacturer on changing that but it won't help you now.
Transporting them is no big deal. The most I have transported at one time was 5 in the back of my Blazer. Just make sure that they are insulated from each other or other hard things with some kind of foam. I used water pipe insulation between them on the ones we installed at Elkhart. I usually use foam mats between them when I lay them flat in my Blazer. They are normally transported vertically on a glass delivery truck.
If I were headed towards either Phoenix or Eugene, that is were I would go to have the work done.
I have heard that Jim K. was stocking these. He is another source you might try in the SF area. I do not know if he is installing them or just selling them. I'm sure he would help if you telephoned him.
We will probably install windshields again at Amana Colonies if I can pull the delivery of them from Owatana together with the glass installers schedules.

What's the name of the warehouse where I can get the windshields.
I'm 100 miles from Phoenix and need them for my Painted Desert.

Gary,
Nick Ronick called to see if he could run the glass to you, I
contacted Manny, and he informed that he will deliver it to you
Thursday and look at some Dune Buggies.

Yep, MannyT was heading this way anyway and he was going to your
place so he said he would pick it up and bring it over. He will be
showing up here in a little bit. The glass folks called the insurance
co just to make sure it would be OK, and it was. The glass folks are
happy that it's going to be dropped off here as it would be tough for
them to unload and load it back up. Everything is looking good. Thanks
for working with MannyT, the glass guy, and the insurance co to get
this done.
Hey Steve;
I'll ask the glass guy about the lock strip and the gasket. Don't
know if they have it in stock, or if it comes with the windshield, but
I'll try to get the best installation possible in the amount of time
that I have.
Hey Kirk;
Thanks for the numbers for the glass. Will check them when MannyT
gets here. Will be interesting to see if the glass is tinted or not. I
don't think the current one is tinnted.
Thanks again to everyone for all of the information and experiences
when it comes to these windows. The last set that I had replaced was
on CamoGMC out in the middle of the desert at one of the GMCMI Las
Vegas rallys.

The lock strip is available locally. My glass guy keeps it in stock since he primarily does truck and bus windshields. The gasket is a special order item and requires removing BOTH windshields at the same time to install.
