I would personally like to invite everyone to come to our
Spring 2012 Convention in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

I am currently working on some exciting first time items and
tech sessions. Watch the website (www.gmcmi.com) and the
gmclist for more details.

But for now, download the brochure and interactive registration pdf
and get your registration in early! There may be a reward for the
first, well, you'll find out!

See you in Shawnee.

In the schedule I do not see what night the Pinebox Derby is scheduled for. We need to be there for that so we can beat Jim K. again.

I do see the awards are on Friday which we probably will not be able to attend. We probably will have to leave Thursday Morning.

Ken,

HUH!?

Pinebox Derby! I thought it was the Pinewood Derby.

The term "Pinebox" to describe the race doesn't sound too good to me and I'm ONLY 65! ;-)

Rob M.

Rob,

Someone found out that "Pinewood Derby" was trademarked by the Boy Scouts. Pine box had been used here as inadvertently for some time and it stuck. I might have picked "PineBlock Derby" if I was involved at all.

Matt,

At Goshen I suggested that it should be Pineblock. That went over like a Š
after all, it starts life as a block of wood that must be sanded, etc.

Pinebox doesn't work for me, either. I'm just a few months behind Rob and
I'm not ready for the box just yet. Still some things on my "to do" list.

Great minds tend to think alike.

Good morning gentlemen,
As mentioned in the convention brochure under "Convention Buzz", the
Pinebox Derby
will not be held in Shawnee. We are currently seeking people to organize
the derby.
Ray Swartzendruber has offered to train an individual the computer part of
the derby.

Our plan is to have it back this fall in Amana. If you would like to step
up to the starting
line and offer your assistance, please contact Kim Weeks.

Thank you!

I was asked to step into this at the last convention. I told them that I would. Was expcting training at Shawnee. Guess that won't be the case. This has become one of the most fun events at the conventions. Sorry we won't have it this time. Some of the girls are not going to be happy.

I bought a kit just because it looked I was going to make a rally where they would have a track. While not the ONLY reason to travel half way across the country, it was a plus.

Granted I haven't done anything with the kit, other than set it on my desk and dream up "tricks" to make it faster... Unlike my single attempt when a cub scout.

I told my friends at work that I had bought my "forth GMC motorhome." Just to show their opinion of my sanity, almost all of them thought I was serious, with a forth real full size coach.

Oh well, I'll use the time not spent on the pinebox (even though it is NOT pine) to upgrade my REAL coach.

Due to how few events I could possibly make, I would make a poor candidate for a race official.

David,
When you have the site open with the page saying 'watch this page' use the
refresh button and see if that changes to what is the current page giving
you the details for registration. I had the same problem and Rob suggested
this and it worked so hope the same happens for you.

Sometimes I have to laugh at the changes to our language that tech has caused. Stores used to not like you "swiping" in their stores. Now they ask you to do it.

My exact thoughts. I laughed outloud at the cleaning of the cookies.
So, are yall still coming to Shawnee Mike? Maybe we can meet up there. I have always missed you when passing through Hilsboro. I am usually busy watching for that trooper that nailed me there and for the little people I see on tv.

We plan on making it to Shawnee. I need to get started on my "PineBlock" racer. (As some are not to keen on the wording "Pine Box".)

We should be on the road the first of next month. The plan is to go directly south but turning left just before Mexico, going through Phoenix (and the JetSet rally), looping a bit south till Mid-Texas and then north to Shawnee. The return route will depend on the weather. We have just over two months for the trip.

Great. I have been that way. Before you take off send me an email so I can keep up with you. That is going to be a fun trip.
We have had a lot of "excitement" through there.
