Thought this might be a nice back up. Better than HF and not quite as expensive as Honda.

Looks like a smokin' deal. I don't know anything about this unit. It may be great but, remember, you get what you pay for.

I must have missed it, they now advertise a mens wallet.

I have grown to believe, that the ONAN, though a work horse for its time, and still is, can be beat by a more economical smaller gen. I picked up one that runs on oil/gas mix and can power the battery charger. Can use it anywhere, small and starts easily by hand, something I can't do with the ONAN.

Not a bad idea, having a hand startable gen around sometimes.

The "1 Sale a Day" deals all end at midnight
eastern time; probably actually at 2359.

That unit was a good deal.  After a lot of thinking, I passed on the deal.  There are occasionally great deals popping up unexpectedly if you know ahead of time what you need and funding.  I have been looking at deals on the Honda (quieter and more efficient) small generators.  I have come to believe that the 1000 watt two stroke one I bought 3 years ago will do for now.  It can run my charger, 900 watt water heater, and run my home refrigerator in a pinch, but not my microwave or AC.  I'll stick with it (and the Onan) since I use it less than once a year.  I paid $89 and some smooth talking for it on sale with a rebate at an auto parts store.  I will get more serious about a 2K or larger unit if my Onan gives up the ghost.  For right now the Onan can run the ac, heats water, runs the microwave, and only gives up blue smoke.  So far it is ghastly but not ghostly.

Most folks can get by with the 1000 watt generators unless you want to run the air conditioner. My water heater was too much for the Kipor so I went with the on demand a few years back. I can not "justify" a 2000 watt unit. The little Kipor is light weight and quiet. The one in the add may be a great deal but I am not familiar with it. Of course, with 300 watts of solar on the roof, we rarely run any kind of generator.

I'm no expert but I'd pass for $399. For $400 I can be picky when better units come down the pike. I would of liked to get that Kipor but missed out Sad

John, As I said in an earlier post, you generally get what you pay for. That said, if I didn't already have a 2K Honeywell, I would be very tempted to take a chance on this one, especially if all I wanted it to do was run the battery charger. I'm sure it would be quieter and easier to handle and store than any of the larger and heavier 2K units. Amazon has a large selection of inverter generators available. I haven't looked at their listings lately, but you might get a good deal there.

I would recommend that you check for an authorized service provider in you area, in case you have a problem with whatever brand you buy. That's what I did when I went for the Honeywell and I'm glad I did. It ended up going haywire the first week we used it and they ended up replacing it under warranty, after they determined it couldn't be fixed. The second one works much better, but is still louder than a Honda.

We dont use a generator to run a microwave, we use the batteries.

So Dan, I see this as a big deal.

If I can run the microwave from batteries, I can avoid the need for a 2kw generator.
How do you do it?  Is it a 12 volt Microwave or do you use an inverter?
If it is an inverter, is it a pure sign wave and what size?

My 1200 watt inverter will not run my microwave.  It groans real bad like it wants to burn up - I am told that some blow out if they growl too long.

My 2000W Kipor will easily run my microwave if I have it set as running only off AC, but I can also run it off my 2000W invertor while running my 1000 Kipor as a charger maintainer.

Doug, try what Bob says, run it from the batteries with the generator running. I dont do it that way because I don't have to.
Here is what we did. Teri had a nice half time Micro/convection. It drew too much to run it. She wanted it in the house because she would use the convetion in the house. Never used it in the GMC. I found a 700 watt microwave to put in the coach for 40 bux, new. I have a 2000 watt modified sinewave hooked to the 4 batteries. Runs it fine. We don't try to run it for an hour. If we did we would need some "juice", then I would fire up the Kipor or just run the Onan. Does not take long to heat up the meals that Teri "pre-makes" before we hit the desert.
