I have a sender unit that isn't working on the propane tank. Is that something I can get local or does t have to be from a GMC supplier?

The biggest problem when they do not work is grounding. I would try a big temporary ground (like jumper cables) before replacing anything.

Mike may have the correct answer, but often these type gauges lose the ground where they mount. So, if after you try the temporary ground, it still doesn't work, remove the to tiny screws that hold in the dial (sender). Nothing will leak, it is magnetically coupled to the float. Then lift the dial out. Look for the strap around the edge that is the ground and put an ohmmeter on it. If it is something like 100 or less, it is probably good. If that is the case, clean that strap and the place where it will make contact with the tank/float assembly.

G'day,
The LPG tank gage in Double Trouble wasn't working and so I removed one of the mounting bolts, cleaned it up, cleaned up the surface
where it contacted the tank foot and where the nut came into contact with the frame. It worked fine.
Fast forward to the next year, once again it wasn't working. I ran the tank empty and then removed the gage. When I had it out in my
hand I connected an Ohm meter to the screw and grounded it to the side of the gage and moved the float, the meter moved. I cleaned
the face of the tank that it went into and the back of the gage. John Sharpe found us new gaskets - they're special and I
re-installed the gage leaving one out. Instead of relying on the mounting bolt to provide the ground I ran a wire from the gage
screws up to the galvanized LPG enclosure that Avion's have. I tightened everything up and then evacuated the tank and back filled
it with LPG. The gage worked fine. Hopefully when I get back there this year it still will be.

For the really obvious, check that there is not a crimp on the sender to the chasis wire. This is basicly "outdoors environment" and may have turned all green and corroded. ( pull test) If so snip it back and if you crimp, seal with some Goop or solder and shrink.
