Sort of takes away from the idea of the GMC. I like the easy of parking with the 26 footer.
Look at that thing....
Looks like they cut behind the passenger and added the middle of a coach.... but too long. I imagine making turns can have some exciting moments. In my mind, my 455 is already at task on the hills, that would be a bit much for me.

I think there is a 34' GMC at Alex Sirrum's. I was in and out of it a few times, it's just kind of rotting in their lot, but I remember thinking it would be a nightmare to turn. Had extra length in front of the door and behind the bathroom.
I believe GMC had a 28' and 30' version on the drawing board at one time, I'm sure someone will pipe in. 31' seems reasonable, although instead of just cramming in extra couch space I'd have wanted some of it in the back to do front to back sleeping!

Bill Bryant may chime in but, as I recall hearing GMC had a 29-foot design
on the boards. Buskirk used the positioning (bogies moved about 24 inches)
that GMC had determined as best.
The 2-foot extensions on the rear, though popular, seem to put it out of
balance.
Also, if I recall properly, Ron Tase extended his to 32 feet. He, too, moved
the bogies rearward so the balance would be right. I believe the coach has
seen two owners since Ron sold it. I think it was at Goshen. If it wasn't
Ron's version then it was something pretty close. Ron did the extension
(moving the Onan and LP forward of the rear suspension) so he could have a
walk-around queen bed in the rear. He also had a separate shower across from
the bath module and additional storage space.

Norm,
Yep that's the one, HOWEVER, when I saw it the owner was asking $35,000! Had I known how desirable a Buskirk stretch was I would
have bought it in a heartbeat.
I have a penchant of checking into things before I buy and by the time I figger'd out what it was and called the owner I was told;
"the new owner drove it out of here this morning!"
He who hesitates is lost!

Rob...you might remember that I bought Arthur lynwoods 29.5 stretch. Arther sectioned a 3 foot piece from a donor in order to have
two single beds (enough room for a king size bed). He did it right in moving the bogies back 20 in. in order to regain the balance
and semetry. All wheel disc brake realy deliver.
ps. It's for sale.

All that work and it still has a rear bed you can't walk around.
Might be prime canidate for the pull out rear end to increase the bed room space. ( the read door pulls out, stretching the bed making a reasonable sized sleeping space )
don't ya think?

I think that after 26' it's no longer a "hotrod with plumbing". The Torsion bar issues recently posted come to mind as well for this type of wheelbase stretch. I bet front traction is better though.
