I'll be painting my coach soon and will be removing the right side awning. The fabric is in good shape although dated, but my concern is with the arms and locks. Been rigged to work over the years. Some missing parts and others not matching.
Anyone know of a source for awnings or parts specific to the GMC. Same as on an airstream?
How about an electric push button rig?
Thanks.

R.D., if your awning is a zip-dee, most if not all the parts are still
available from suppliers, or from zip-dee themselves. I have looked for the
lobster claw hooks that are part of the end pieces of the extension arms,
and found that they could be purchased new, as well as the end caps,
spring, and other parts. The original fabric is, I believe, no longer being
produced, but substitutes are available. The original fabric was the
closest thing to an indestructible ozone resistant material that I have
ever seen. Color choices were kinda circus tent like in my opinion. New
stuff is out there, but fairly expensive. If your old fabric is just dirty,
it can be cleaned up very well with a pressure washer. High quality stuff
like fantastic fans and zip-dee awnings only cost you for the original
purchase, and then give very long service. Some of the other awning mfg's
can't make that claim.

I believe that ZipDee is still using the same fabric. It is Sunbrella.
However, the Sunbrella company discontinued some of the colors and patterns.
My Orange and Brown stripped fabric is no longer available from ZipDee but I am not worried.
My awning still looks like new even though it is over 20 years old and I have used it a lot.

Thanks for setting me straight, Emery. I knew that some of the fabrics
weren't available, I thought that it was because of the "environmentally
sensitive nature" of the products, not their ugly colors. <Grin> Someone
told me once that" Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly runs clean to the
bone." I think that applies to some of the fabrics.

RD,
Perhaps you could tell us what make your awning is so that we can better tell you what information you are looking for. It would also help if you would put your state or location so we can direct you to your closes source.

Hello,
How feasable is it, 2 replace the awning fabric yourself ????.
Looks like it would be a "son of a gun"!!, to replace it yourself tho...
Does anyone know the exact size of the fabric in the awning??
cheers and beers

Changing the awning or any of the parts is not that hard. I replaced the roller and both arms on my old SOB. My brother had replaced his under insurance and was able to get the hardware back as salavage. He was not able to keep the awning it.s self. The bibbest thing to remember is those srping have enough tension to take your arm off. However just about every brand you can find removal instructions online, either on their site or just gooogle.

Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.
