Not to criticize the material selected for headliners or side panels I would like to point out one major advantage of plastic
materials.
Leaks can't damage it.

G'day Rob,
Thanks for broaching the subject, ...as I am contemplating replacing the water damaged side panels of our coach. What to use? Patterns? Place to go for more information?
We'd like to use light colored material to offset our dark ceiling and cabinets. Plastic sounds feasible. Considering port and starboard salon area only. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The beige FRP panels from Lowes would be a nice complementary color.

Funny, I was thinking of your beautiful ceiling when I wrote the "disclaimer" part of my email! ;-)
When I was looking into headliner / side panel materials I found this company:

From what I remember this seemed to be the best stuff out there. I might be biased since they are Krauts!
Having said that Tom Eckert is probably the go to guy on this stuff, he uses it in is business.

I did some white ABS plastic with a pebble I got from a company in National
City on the advice from Arch

I used the FRP Panels and it came out great. Not the easiest to work with
but not impossible either.

Koematex is a plastic designed for outdoor signage. It comes in a basic off-white, in many metric thickness. It is also available in 12 different colors. The colored material is probably too thick to make a neat headliner. but would be an excellent side panel product. The finish is a matte surface.
If you call them, they may send you samples. I picked up samples at a commercial show. You may have to drive to get the material. Here in the Wash, D.C. the only suppliers are in Baltimore or Richmond.
I hope Tom Eckhart will pop in on this subject. If he is using it commercially, He may be able to point us to a supplier.

Good work. It is great stuff, I think Sintra (competing product) comes in
colors even in the 4mil (~1/8") thickness. Some of the colors are not
stocked in all thicknesses but are available. I do have an old color ring
that contains, dark & light green, dark & light blue, dark & light grey,
dark & light yellow, red, black, orange, white, beige and purple. All are
4 mil samples. These are from Kommerling USA INC. and the product name is
"Komatex".

The major suppliers/distributors are located throughout the country. If
anyone is interested, just let me know. I have a list of general sign
material suppliers that is about ten pages long. Send me your city/state
and I will reply with three or four suppliers - don't PM as others may want
to contact the same suppliers. I am not sure if you will need an account
to purchase, but it has been my experience that if you want to buy it -
they will sell it. If you are doing all the side panels and the ceiling
you are probably looking at 8 sheets or more.

I used Komatex for my side and ceiling panels, and couldn't have been happier with the results.
Easy to work with and waterproof were major selling points, and at $30/panel, they seemed reasonably priced. My coach had the side panels converted to the pebble grained plastic when I bought it, and I didn't like the look of the plastic.
When I dropped the original, cardboard ceiling panel, I couldn't believe how much mold was found on the upper surface. Now it's nice and clean, and any leaks won't affect it.
The only downside is that I don't think you can apply a fabric type of headliner as it probably wouldn't stick to the surface. Some folks are more concerned about sound suppression, so that may be a downside for some folks.
