Have seen various tools and pullers to remove the front bearings on our GMC's. Just missed one on ebay.
I've seen other front drive bearing tool kits, and wonder why they would not work.
I realize the difference in our setup and that of a say Honda, but what about the larger 4wd vehicles of today.
Anyone run across anything that would work and does not cost #700. ?
Thanks.

RD,

AFAIK the only bearing tool that works is one specifically designed for the Toronado / Eldorado / GMC.

I reckon as the numbers of 1 ton front ends proliferate the number of second hand bearing tools on the market will increase.

The one on eBay went for $425 which is a fair piece of change that you can recoup if you have a tool and then install a 1 ton.

Also Charles Wersal down (or should I say up?) in Texas had made some he was selling but I don't remember the price.

Regards,
Rob M.

Check with Dave Lenzi on his method as he doesn't use a bearing puller.
Could save you a bundle.

Depends on where you are. If you were in the central Atlantic area and were a member of the GMC Tidewater Crabs, the club would offer to loan you the club's tool set.

Are these sets still available?

I dont need to rent one, I'd just like one for my toolbox.
Need to change my rotors soon.

RD,

I believe this tool set is made by Charles Wersal.

I've BCC'd him on this email and if I am correct I trust he will respond.

Regards,
Rob M.
