Does anyone know how to lock in my Gmail as it was? I HATE the new format!

Talk about Grumpy!!

I though I was the only one that hated the new G-mail that much.
The contact management sucks - Too! Take many more keys strokes and some mouse jabbing to find what I need. (I detest pointing devices of all kinds.)

I would have abandon them right then if I did not need it to manage contacts on my Googlephone.

I let it change me once. Then I found the box that says "Go Back?" and hit that every time and left a little nastygram in their message box. I just kept checking the box and leaving similar notes and now it seems to have decided to leave me alone.

I thought.... I just had to go back there to deal with something else, and it had changed me back again. Another 500 character nastygram in their little box.

I never actually found a definitive place to say "Give me back what works and leave me alone to get something done"

Matt (also Grumpy)

Mike,

Same here. I liked the old Gmail format and have a couple of IDs. I can't
fund a way to get around the "New and Unimproved" Gmail format.

a little google search
http://heresthethingblog.com/2011/11/02/gmail-reader-mail/

quoted from link above
Here’s how you do it:

1.Go to your Gmail inbox, find the gray gear icon in the top-right
corner of the screen that’s just below the black navigation bar (and
not the little gear icon that’s actually in the black bar), and click
it.
2.Select “Revert to the old look temporarily,” then click the blue
“Revert to the old look temporarily” button in the pop-up that
appears.
3.Next, you’ll be asked to fill out a short survey about why you want
to go back to the old Gmail look. Among the options you can click: “I
don’t have time to learn the new look right now,” “I tried using the
new look and didn’t like it,” and “Based on what I read or heard about
the new look, I don’t want it.” Select an option, add more detail if
you like, the click the blue “Submit” button at the top of the page.
4.Presto—your Gmail inbox should (repeat, should) sport the old look again.
Now, in some cases—like mine, for example—your Gmail inbox may not
revert to the old look immediately after clicking submit. If that
happens, try this:

1.Click the little gear icon in black navigation bar at the top-right
corner of the page, and select “Mail settings.”
2.In the row of tabs that starts with “General,” find the “Themes” tab
to the right and click it.
3.Select a new theme—any theme will do—wait for the “Your preferences
have been saved” message to appear, and then click your preferred
theme again.

One other option that some people might like;

You can set you mail client to retrieve gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Eudora, etc.

This might also be handy if you have limited connectivity or expensive wireless internet.

You can pull in your mail, disconnect, reply, and reconnect to send.

Gentlemen

I have the Old Version on my screen now, but we all know where this is
going !

I have sent enough Hate Mail to warrant a band-aid on my finger tip from
pounding the keys...<g>
I have compared them in my notes to Microsoft and change for the sake of
change...which brought success in the form of Vista !
But does anyone read what the consumer has to say?

I thought it was the middle of summer down there. What happened?

Do I need to call Al G. and send him your way for a visit in his private jet?

Ken,

It is summer here in Aussie land but it's winter in Newfie land where Mike is!

Al who? Isn't he out fighting man-bear-pig?

If you're not a South Park fan the previous sentence won't make sense!

Rob M.

Now you've got me checking the sub-sections of my New Years' resolutions !
I could have sworn there was a section enabling hate-mail to non human
business entities without detrimental effects to the writer. I'll keep
checking.

I also see I'll have to send you a map of the Canadian Maritime
provinces..NS = Nova Scotia and 'Newfie' is short for NFLD or Newfoundland.
Geeze, just because you're on the other side of the world... <VBG>

Mike,

I must apologize once again!

You've noted the fact that Nova Scotia is not Newfoundland before, in fact now that I think about it this is the THIRD TIME! Well
maybe it'll be the charm and overcome my CRS!

Rob M.

Not to worry, I wouldn't know if Darwin was six kms or 6000 from Canberra
! And that's considerably more important. <g>
CRS ...Hmmm, I used to know what that was, but now I forget!
