Byron,
Well done!
However as I look at that picture I don't think it's a complete vehicle, I think it's like the western towns built for the movies, a
façade, just the street frontage with nothing behind it.
If you check this information on the Futurliner website you'll note there isn't one listed at the GM Heritage Museum. If there was
one there I would think it would be listed.

OK guys, problem solved. Here's the photo of the Futurliner at the GM Heritage Center. Yes, it doesn't look exactly like the others
we have seen.

From the photo the display it is easy to tell there there is no depth to the vehicle - the top portion is nearly flat with the bottom portion. The fooler is, as I understand, that there was a glass canopy over the driver that was later replaced when the greenhouse effect would nearly cook the driver. Since there was no A/C, the change was made.
When I looked at that photo at the GM Heritage site I thought the unit looked more like a display model than one you could drive. The wheels also seem different.

Byron,
Here's an article on the 1936 Parade of Progress. It has photos of both the first and second series of Futurliners.
http://www.futurliner.com/account.htm
As noted the original design of the Futurliner had a complete glass bubble for the driver to sit in. At the end of a sunny summer's
day he must have been well done!
http://www.futurliner.com/pic3.htm
The unit in the GM Heritage Museum appears to have the area painted silver to represent the bubble.

I reckon the Futurliner below IS the REAL predecessor of our GMC's! Note that it was built by GMC on a GMC chassis, has a wrap
around windshield, and is 28 feet long! For some silly reason they chose a Buick engine instead of an Oldsmobile! ;-)
