To refresh, I had a flickering alternator light. Tightened the belts, checked the output stud, but no real change until a couple of weeks later the alt light came on solid and steady. Checked the voltage at center post of isolator per instructions from Matt Collie and had 4v. Concluded alt was bad and changed it out with rebuilt NAPA 100a (orig was 80a). All seemed just fine for a week, drove it a couple of times, but then yesterday evening, starting up cold, alt light was on solid again. Didn't have a chance to check output, however my dash voltmeter on the engine battery was only showing about 12.8v. But then after warming up the engine for just like 2 or 3 minutes, suddenly the alt light went out and the engine battery voltage jumped up to 14.5v showing it was getting a charge. All was fine for the rest of the 1/2 hr drive home, but haven't driven or tested it since.
Any idea what might have happened?
Thanks,

I wouldn't rule out another bad alternator. I have had mixed results with rebuilt units.
