I had a bit of time yesterday so installed the air bag extenders which raise the stock air bags about 2" or so. My purpose was to see if that would drop the proper ride height air pressure from 91psi in my 78 Royale to something lower so I could get more up travel for leveling while still staying within the 100psi limit on the wireless air manifold. It looks like with the air bag extenders the proper ride height pressure will settle in around 75psi. I can't really tell until I drive it a bit and no time to do that yesterday. If the suspension does settle in to proper ride height with the wireless air system set around 75 to 80psi then that will be a worthwhile change for any of you with stock rear air bags and the wireless air controller. With 20 to 25psi of up air leveling we should be able to get the stock up/down leveling travel with no problem.
Now, for those of you who have been around longer than the ten years I have, are there any down sides or unintended consequences to running the stock air bags with these risers in place? I would imagine the ride will be a bit softer, but does it become softer to a fault like wallowing or bobbing or cause untoward handling of any sort? Thanks.

So, where do we get these extenders? Is anyone making them?

I just bought a set of the old bag lifters. If anyone wants it, I could make up a drawing from the actual part. Just let me know.

Bought them from another GMCer who had an extra pair. Just picked up the nuts and washers and the airbag protectors and getting ready to install them. I don't know the answer to your other question as to the name.

Don't know if they are still being manufactured but these are the ones I have and can make a sketch if you like.

I finally got around to putting together a sketch of the airbag lifters.
Here are the links to the scetch and a photo.

Re the mechanical fuel pump with blocked port (second picture):
Nothing is supposed to be connected there. Somebody in the past
has installed the incorrect fuel pump. The one you have is for a
Toronado with A/C. The correct pump has only one outlet. The
one you have works just fine, but BOTH outlets are in the wrong
location to use a "standard" metal fuel line OR the insulated flex
armored, line sold by JimB at the Coop!
