Please can anyone tell me the size/type of wheel bearings i need to replace the old ones back and front. I know it may be too much info to expect but thought i would ask and see.

Most of us have had great success with the Timkin bearings.
They command more, but Dave Lenzi,Jeff Sirum, Tom Hampton, Jim Bounds
and I use them.
I have the honor of supplying them to them most of the time as I give
them a quantity discount.
On the front, if your not aware when I speak of the bearing clearance
after it is assembled on the hub, then you should stop and ask what
that is about.
Do not waste your time clamping them on a vise, it just gives an indicator.
Dave L found out couple years ago that the inner seal on a non
National seal was generating metal particles as the bearing spun.
Lot of you that are using the heavy duty front end are running on Red
Chinese bearings so don't brag that your gong to go 200,000 miles on
them.

Hello
When i first saw the quote "The Money Pit", i thought oh dear what have i done getting a GMC Motorhome......
If its done in stages and you do not keep a count, then it's cheap right ????? LOL

I am scared to do that.
Money spent on rivet nut tools and other sundry stuff, like insulation boards, cans of foam spray,replacment led lights for roof to name but a few.
I am sure is approaching $1000 already.
Thats before the normal stuff to do like brakes wheel bearings etc etc...
But you know its still better than paying over $100,000 for a new RV, that may even have a rotted out roof later down the road ...

Steve or Debbie, not sure who is writing, but if you are in Florida, I would suggest you have either Jim Bounds at the Co-op in Orlando or Jeff Sirum do you front bearing. They CANNOT be removed and properly re-installed without specialized tools !!!!
Unless you can borrow the tools and have excellent mechanical
abilities, I doubt you could do the fronts by yourself without someone experienced looking over your shoulder. The expense of the tools takes a long time to amoratize vs the occassional expense of having a GMC shop do the job. The original schedule for changing/checking the front bearings I believe was every 25000 miles. Even if you drove 5000 miles per year, that means only doing the fronts every 5 years. I don't know the price of the front bearing labor at a GMC shop but its only once every 5 years. If it were me and unless someone real good wanted to help, I'd have it done at a GMC shop and buy a spare set of bearings so that 5 years done the road I'd be sure to have the parts. I bought a bearing tool several years ago so I could help if someone broke down in Southern Ontario and so far never used the tool. I don't have a GMC YET !!!!!
As Jim K says, the 1 ton front end conversion changes this whole story and if your coach needs knuckles and or hubs it makes the 1 ton conversion much closer to the price of the repairs.

Steve,
If you have time, I will show you how to inspect each roller and race
and help you save $.
Being a true Ornamental, I use to spend time and reuse parts until we
started our shop.
Now we cannot take chance or have the time to inspect in a way that we
can stand behind our work without installing new parts.
