OK do you know where i can get a vent the same as the automatic one ???. I like the design of it, and my old one is shot to hell.
Have looked around on the internet, but could not find the same design.

Emery,
I haven't seen one of your vents, so this is purely a shot in the dark:
Have you considered using a door lock actuator? They're pretty nifty
little linear actuators which can be found cheap -- I think I paid $10 for
the last 2-door complete kit, with switches & wire.
I see someone selling lots of 6 for <$19 with lifetime warranty.
The availability of US-made parts is really getting to be a problem for me
too: A year ago I could buy all the 500K Ohm potentiometers I wanted for
<$1.00 each for the delay controls on electric wipers. They were, of
course, mostly new surplus from various manufacturers. For the past few
months those supplies have dried up, for several reasons: 1. Twist
controls have largely been replaced by push button switches and "electronic
potentiometers". 2. Everything has gone solid state, which translates to
relatively low impedance circuits; no more high impedance vacuum tube
circuits to require 500K Ohm pots. 3. Domestic manufacturers have dried
up, both for the pots themselves and for the products they might have been
used in. The prices start around $5.00, and for top quality go to $20+.
The situation for the knobs to go on the pots is the same. :-(

Hello Emery,
It is annoying the frequency of so many parts etc no longer being made. I can remember as likely you do also, you could go to a hardware store for instance, and get just about anything.
Now if they have some, it's likely to be a handful of them in a sealed bag for silly prices...
I am from england, a lot more high street shops there, there are malls, but i think the UK Govt will not allow Corp stores/Malls if it is going to affect the local smaller shops.
So some older stuff may be little easier to get hold of.
Wow how did i get there , it is 00:37 AM so i will blame the time LOL
Well i really hope that you can get the part/s you need.
I may have found one , if not then i will catch up with you and see what going on.

Hello Ken.
There is a UK store called Maplin electronics. They used to sell a huge range of electronic componants.
If you find stuff there you want, i could get a relative to buy them for you and post them from the UK, if thats any help to you.

Gary,
Yes this is the one Emery Stora is making.
First the silonid was discontinued, then now the case.
I spoke with him this evening, I'm sure he will get another one with a
different innerds ready in next couple month.

Steve,
Thanks for the lead. They do indeed have a good selection of items. Not,
unfortunately, quite the potentiometers I need -- for ease of installation
in the GMC, I try to deliver them with long bushings and shafts. I did
just order a sample lot of some that may work -- from Hong Kong.
I've bookmarked Matlin for future reference.
