I rarely share burdens with others but Teri and I have so many friends here I need to pass this along. My father in law had major surgery, in Portland, 3 weeks ago today. Teri was there with him. 12 hours they worked on him. All was good for about 7 days then setbacks came along. Long story short, Teri has been by his bedside for the 3 weeks. I can say that I, we, have never been through anything like this before. Strictly touch and go with his life. Teri was to be there for 2 weeks, now we have no idea how long she will be there. Teri is his only real caregiver. His wife died in 09. My father in law lives in Irrigon so he is a long ways from home in Portland. Teri has two brothers that live in Vancouver and they help her with food and stuff. Teri and I work, part time, for the same company so I have been able to hold her job down, and mine, by staying here.
Some have wondered why I have not been around on the net. Now you know. Please keep Teri and her dad in your prayers.
Thanks
Dan

Tell Teri we are thinking of her. These are not the good times.
I never considered we would have to be the care-givers for our parents,
but, after taking care of my dad, my mom, and Mel's Mom we know some of
what she is going through.

Dan and Teri, I truly know what you are going through. The most comforting
thing that I have to offer is to trust your family and friends. This burden
is very, very difficult to carry if you do not allow others to help you
with it. The GMC community has been an enormous part of my rebirth since
Mary died. It is OK to shed tears, if you don't, I would think something
was very wrong. My thoughts and prayers are with you today and into the
future. It truly will get better.

Dan;
You guys are in our thoughts and prayers and I am posting a song
for just a time as this ~
~ Joe & lavelle ~
I LEAN ON YOU, LORD
CHORUS:
I lean on you, Lord, I lean on you, Lord,
for the things that I need I lean on you.
When I don't know just what to do,
I've got to think you're gonna see me through
to supply my every need I lean on You.
Verss # 1.
I've been on the mountain when the sun was shining bright.
I've been in the valley when the clouds were black as night.
I've been betrayed like Jesus, by a friend who wasn't true,
but in the good times and the bad times, Lord, I learned to lean on You.
Verse # 2.
I've heard the battle raging, then I prayed till victory came.
Been times I really thought, Lord, you don't even know my name.
But I've been blessed and I've been down to where I didn't know what to do,
But in the times of joy or sorrow, Lord, I've learned to lean on you.
That's why I'm leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarm.
Leaning, leaning, but in the good times or the bad times,
Lord, I learned to lean on You.

Dan, I just got off the phone with my 85 year old Dad. Lost my Mom two years ago after her suffering a lengthy illness. You try to prepare yourself for "the call" but nothing seemed to work for me. Teri is doing the right thing, being with her Dad. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Teri and her Dad.
