Hi,
When we turn the ignition off the engine kicks over a few times before it shuts off - is that a problem and what's the best way to remedy it?
Also any recommendations on what to use for minor leaks around windows or roof?
We're currently in Nashville and wondering what's essential for winterization? We're thinking about driving to New York next week but we may sell (sadly) beforehand as we need to head back to NZ for a while in January and can't afford to keep it.
Thanks!
JP

That is usually due to a high idle speed. That can be caused by the idle speed adjustment or timing that is too advanced--usually because of a stuck centrifugal advance in the distributor.

JP,
You say back to NZ for a while. . . .
If you are planning to return, borrow a page from Rob Mueller notebook. He arranges to have has coach stored while he is at home in Australia. If that is a possibility, I'm sure he would be glad to fill in details. (I know I can't.)

It is, but a bit difficult to explain on line. I would download the manual from bdub's site and have a look. The idle adjustment screw is accessible when you remove the aircleaner and look at the driver's side of the carburetor right at the linkage pivot. There are two adjustment screws--one for base idle and one for fast idle when the choke is on. The base idle screw is horizontal and a bit hard to spot but with a good flashlight, you can spot and access it. Like I said, there could be other causes such as the stuck centrifugal advance, a choke that does not totally open, or a slight vacuum leak.. However go for the easy one first :)If the distributor advance is stuck it will also result in slow starter cranking when hot.
