My electronic Rostra cruise stopped working on the way home from Goshen. My thinking is it has to do with the brake light switch. Today I am digging around and there are two switches on my brake pedal. Is this normal? One had slipped and was in the on position. Are there two switches, from the factory, or has someone added this to my coach? I did not have time to run the wires. Hoping I can get the cruise going without too much problem. I installed it myself about 7 years ago. Will have to dig the book out to see where wires go.

Yes there are two switches. One is for brake lights and one for the cruise control.
I have a different way of wiring it from the instructions that came from Rostra and it works much better.
Most instructions call for connecting a wire to the cold side of the Brake Lite Switch. If yours is
connected this way, then remove the wire from the Brake Switch &
connect it thru the original cruise control Dump switch to chassis ground. The
original cc Dump switch is located just above the Brake Switch & has a
PINK and a BROWN wire attached to it. Cut both Pink & Brown wires a few
inches from the Dump Switch connector (you may have already cut the pink
wire or removed the connector from the switch). Connect the ground wire from the Rostra cruise control
to the Pink wire of the connector & attach the BROWN wire to a GOOD chassis
ground. When you press on the brake peddle, the dump switch will open &
the ground is removed, which will make the cruise control drop out.
Doing it this way will not interfere with the brake light circuits. In the past some people have had problems when turning the turn signals on and the cruise control would drop out.
This was due to the fact that the turn signal bulb on the GMC is the same element as the brake light and it would either cause a low voltage condition or the flashing signal would cause the Rostra to think that it was an open circuit.
ALSO - there is a in-line fuse for the Rostra that is in the wiring harness behind the dash. Mine stopped working for a while until I discovered the fuse. The holder for the in-line fuse had dropped down behind the dash and I had forgotten that there was one in that line and I could not see it. I found it by following the wire up from the brake pedal switch.
Once I replaced the fuse things worked again.

The Rostra uses the ground felt on the brake lights as the 'not brake' signal. When the brake lights are on, it will see 12 volts at that point. When the lights are off... it SHOULD see ground. Anything that increases resistance through the brake lights to ground will cause problems with how the Rostra "sees" this ground.
LED tail lights can cause problems with a Rostra CC, if set up as per the instructions.
