Mine have been off for nearly 10 years. Things are much cooler under there, I have had no water or splash issues and, it is much easier to see/work on everything. I don't know of a down side.

Strange to see this from an orgn guy.
I had mine off for 6months and was a disaster.

I have two ragussa trays with all sorts of stuff stored.
Sand dust and dirt and rain made a real mess.

I have never owned a car without wheel liners.

Jerry, I think I am going to follow your lead. Have often thought about leaving them out. Ken B. has his out. You take longer trips that we do and have suffered no problems. I just like the idea of having the air move around in there. If we splash road grime on the engine, during rain, we can always wash it off. I might cover the batteries with some mud flap material. Thanks for your post.

Yea, they are easy but why not just leave them off and let the air blow. I can see if things are not going right by looking through my glass hatch cover. Some mud flap material around the back of batteries and maybe on the floor should take care of any problems. I do hate the thought of my batteries not having a "back" so I will do something there. 5 batteries up front need some kind of protection I think.

The batteries are in front of the tire. Mud flaps normally go to the rear of the tire. I have mud flaps on mine to keep the dirt off of the outside of the body.

I have no problem with you installing a mud flap between the front of the tire(s) and the battery(s). I have never had any appreciable dirt accumulation up there but installing a barrier can't do anything but help the situation.

I do not think so. I do not know how you would measure that. I would think that with more air flowing through the engine area that you would have to have some or most of that additional air coming through the radiator.
