I just want to recommend a towing company that we had a great experience with that is from the Chicagoland/Milwaukee area. Floyd's Towing (http://www.floydstowing.com/) from Racine/Kenosha WI. They placed our GMC 77 Palm beach on a semi flatbed and towed her for 8hrs one way then did the return trip with an empty bed. Everyone we dealt with at Floyd's was very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable. They quoted us a flat fee that blew away the competition. When they got to our location they realized they couldn't tow it off the street on the flatbed due to low power lines, so they called in a regular tow truck to tow us to the top of the street for loading.

Thanks for the report on a good find. I always have a problem recommending where people should go in the Chicago area for any kind of GMC trouble.

For people from out of the area, Kenosha, WI is just north of the Il /Wi border. It is about 40 miles from the northern edge of Chicago or about 35 miles south of Milwaukee on I-94.

Floyd's doesn't do mechanical work, but is a great towing find. We are also struggling with finding a good knowledgeable mechanic in the Chicagoland area.

I recently received the name of someone locally who has experience working on GMC motorhomes. No personal experience with him, but he wanted to know if our Palm Beach was for sale when he visited our garage sale. Supposedly his boss has 3 GMC motorhomes in the Waukegan IL area. His boss is the owner of a local salvage yard. http://apcity.com/. I will look for his name and contact information if anyone is interested.

I remember you from a year ago when you were stuck in Wisconsin.

If you tell us what kind of work you need to have done, I'll bet we can find someone fairly close to you. Just tell us where the coach is, what needs to be done, and in what time frame.

Yep that was us stuck in Wisconsin Very Happy We were at the GMCI rally in Goshen this fall and had a great time and learned a lot. We made some great contacts. We are currently looking to have a trailer hitch (requires cutting the bumper, etc) and macerator installed. I think we need to install the macerator before the new hitch. If you know of anyone locally to us (chicago/milwaukee area) that would be great. If we cannot find anyone we will be taking it to Michigian in the spring for the work.

But other then that work we would just love to have a knowledgeable mechanic in the area. If you know of one we would love to know.
