Hi Guys! I stall have my much beloved Palm Beach so I've slashed the price to 12 grand in the hopes that it will go to a good home soon. I hate to sell but my recent marriage has created other priorities. If anyone is looking for a great coach at a fantastic price or knows someone who is looking, this is it. I've done all the heavy lifting, you add your own details and you'll have one of the best coaches for the money on the road! I've placed a very detailed post on the swap meet page so check it out and give me a call. I've got tons of pics I can send but if someone can tell me how to upload them I would be happy to put them on the net. I've had several serious lookers but everyone complains that I removed the original furniture. So, if you can replace it or put in some new stuff, you can't find a better one for the money. The coach is in Fredericksburg, Texas, near San Antonio.

For the record: I have the original furniture from THIS coach. I will give it to anyone who buys THIS coach (but the furniture is in Oregon.) Just in case someone wants to put it back... the dinette is dirty and worn the rest isn't that bad.

So guys, what am I doing wrong here? Is the GMC market that bad? I reduced my price on the Bethune web site to 12k and Billy says they are still selling. Why does no one want this way above average coach for a song? Help me out here guys. How can I move this thing? I'd love to keep it but not only am I recently married but have some medical bills that I need to deal with. Not looking for sympathy, just a good home for a good coach. Thanks again for all your help in the past. What a fabulous resourse.

Hello Lance,

First of all, yes the market is down. When I put my Kingsley up for sale several years ago I listed it on every site I could find. Here are a few that I remember.

http://www.rvtraderonline.com/

http://www.rvonline.com/index.html

http://gmccoop.com/for%20sale.htm

http://www.gmcmh.com/

http://www.appliedgmc.com/level.itml/icOid/682

http://www.gmcclassics.com/chatter/4sale.html

http://www.gmcmotorhome.com/

I might have forgotten some. My point is I wanted the most exposure I could get. About 3 weeks into the advertising blitz a father and son team showed up from France and bought it. Because of the language barrier I could never find out from them which advertisement they saw but it was clear they got it from the internet.

You only have to find that one right person and it will sell.

The market is down and I do not think it will "recover" very soon... if ever. But coaches are selling... some for fairly "good" prices. With some effort, you too can sell without loosing you shirt.

Like what Bob says... exposure, exposure, exposure....

BUT... the exposure has to be good.

Take out you digital camera, buy a large pack of batteries. Clean and "STAGE" the coach. Take tons of pictures. (I do not know how many digital picture it takes to make a ton... but that is how many pictures you need to take!) The worse you are at taking pictures, the more pictures you'll need to take. Remember digital pictures are CHEAP!

-- Take pictures of all your upgrades
-- Take many simulator pictures of the same thing.. shifting the camera angle or lighting slightly between shots. One shot WILL be much better than the others.
-- For staging ideas, look at motorhome magazines
-- For interior shots, you might get better pictures with it darker outside the coach.

Select the best 00.5% (or so) of the pictures and post them on one site, as your "major picture stash."

Select the best 4 to 8 shots (showing all four sides and basic layout) and post them on every sales site you can find. Then provide a link to your "major picture stash" and links to the basic GMC motorhome sites.

Lance,
I'm in the market to buy a coach, and that what was disapointing to me was
the limited amount of pictures you have posted on Bethune, I want to see
more interior as well as exterior pictures.

As it had not been posted, here is a link to lance's ad:

<http://www.bethunesales.com/listings/vonprum.html>

Lance,

Understand this is "constructive criticism," meant to help you sell your coach for the best price you can get.

Pictures mean a lot to people who are to far to drive in an hour or so. Be honest, if you only looked at the pictures in the above ad, would YOU pay $12k?

The write-up helps, with all the new parts you have listed. But to many "older" RV'ers, if a part had EVER been replaced, they list it as "new." For example: It might have had a refer put in in the '80's, so it gets listed as "new." So many buyers have learned not to put to much stock into the word "new." A picture of a nice shiny part, is a little more convincing.

Exterior pictures of the coach in an interesting place or "in action" are always preferable to storage locations. (But a warehouse lot is better than a cow pasture!)

You state "Interior professionally redone" but there isn't any picture showing anything of the interior where the couch or dinette used to be. The floor on the steps doesn't look like it is covered and doesn't match the floor in the kitchen. As a result, the pictures in the above ad make it look like there isn't anything between the kitchen/entrance door and the steps other than a couple of propane tanks. If you where buying a coach, could you justify the price to YOUR wife (to many owners, the CFO) without a couch or somewhere to sit and eat?

I understand many sites have a limit to the number of pictures. That is why I recommended you to post most of your pictures on a separate site and provide a link to them in your ad. Do not make your perspective buyer work/search to find information on YOUR coach. (They might find someone else's coach.... maybe even an SOB!)

Remember: Regardless of the long list of new parts and upgrades, your ad has to give the perspective owner the ability to justify the asking price to HIS CFO.

Thanks for all the constructive responses. Most replies mention more photos. Bethune is very limited in both description and photos but I have dozens. I've asked how to post photos on this site but no one has replied with instructions on how to post photos. If I could do that I could just include a link. Can anyone help with instructions to post photos, please. Thanks again to all who want to help and share. What a wonderful group.

G'day,

To upload pictures on the GMC Photo Site you will have to register first.

When you fill in your Username keep in mind that if you choose something unique and not your name people will have difficulty
finding photos you upload.

When I first registered I used relleumt which is my name backwards, sort of. I got so frustrated trying to find pictures other
GMCer's had posted I decided to change it to Mueller R.

I do now worry about Interpol finding me so I am careful what photos I post! ;-)

Once you're registered you can click on the link below and follow J Harpers step by step procedure which will walk you through how
to upload photos:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=4782

Go here:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/
Register, create an album, shrink your pictures, and upload them.
I am not much on yellow but if the thing was in the Portland area I might be interested. My inlaws live up there and it would save me some fuel.
Good luck. You might place the date next to the upgrade so folks know just how new it is.

I saw your coach ads but when I saw the picture that had propane cylinders on the floor, I assumed it was unfinished. I didn't feel like finishing one.

Sorry.

Rick,
The propane cylinder was simply set inside the coach to keep it out of the Washington winter weather when the coach was in storage for a very short time. The coach is finished and ready for your personal touches. Contact me for more info.

Send me all the photos you want, as large as you want along with every bit of useful information you want to share I will host the whole thing indefinately.

I'm a photgrapher and I lease a lot of server space to post photos and I hate small pictures.

I did this for a friend selling a Travco- these were all the pics he could get to me, but you get the idea:

http://oldrv.net/travco/

Also, SELL THE GMC. Answer every question a newbie might have.

Forgive me if this was already covered, i didn't have time to read this whole thread.

Include links to the best GMC info including a little blog post I did. on oldrv.net.

There'sa certain number of people looking for a GMC there is a much bigger number of people with only $12K and they have really limited choices.

But they need to reassured about the resources available within this community.

Here's what i put up for Lance:

http://oldrv.net/2011/10/classic-gmc-motorhome-sale/

It occurs to me that this might be a cool way to get traffic to my site as sellers post links on craigslist and other places.

I'd be open to doing this again if anyone is selling.

I could probably flesh out the text a bit more by explaining why this is a much better use of $12K than a comparably priced SOB.

Dave,

Nice work!

I agree 100% regarding your last sentence below; especially if the SOB was a Revcon!

You opened the door! ;-)
