Hi Everyone
Has anyone installed ,a Fastener like a Dzus quarter turn fastener , used on
Aircraft Panels on the Motor Cover, to gain Fast access in case of Smoke or
Fire .?
How about Holes in the Cover ,that have plugs, that are easy to take out and
Squirt the Fire Suppressant down toward the Intake and Exhaust?

Let me STRONGLY suggest that you not install a door or open any door on top of the engine during any fire. The heat smoke and flames will immediately fill the coach and probably overcome the person or persons in the coach.
There is a fire port made that could be installed in the vertical edge of the step. The hole is just big enough to insert a fire extinguisher nozzle in it and spray the top of the engine.
Fighting an engine fire is no fun. I still remember it quite vividly. The first thing I did was to make sure that no one was inside the coach. Three fire extinguishers and a garden hose just barely got the job done. The fire spread underneath the gas tanks in a matter of less than 1 minute. I was very, very lucky to get mine out. If I hadn't, my attached garage, and probably my house would have gone up in flames also. By the time the fire dept. arrived I had the fire out and there was over $9,000 damage.
You might want to install one of these.

Ken, I think that is what Jim W. has on his vertical top step.
