I stopped to see Marty once a number of years ago; Steve Ferguson warned me against him, but I needed a head and thought I'd just check it our for myself. Very pricey and I didn't bite.

Howard,
Reminds me of a story I heard about a VW shop in Escondido. The guy that ran it was a real shyster and screwed everybody left and
right. While I was living in Paris I was building a kit car based on a VW at my parents' home in Vista. I got him to do some work
for me and it was lame so I joined the list of screwees.
I drove past his shop a year or so later and noticed his sign was gone so I stopped and asked the shop next door what happened.
I was told that six months prior two guys walked into his shop wearing balaclavas and carrying base ball bats. They broke all the
bones in both his arms and legs in multiple places. He was in the hospital for quite awhile, the shop closed and that was that.
NO IT WASN'T ME! I DO NOT CONDONE VIGLANTY ACTION!
Regards,
Rob M.

Marty and I go back to when he built hot rods in the late 50's.
He got to me once.
I had to buy stuff from him when I was filling as a buyer at my brothers
boat yard.
That was two years ago.
Just about killed my soul.
That's three of us who say NO
Thanks

I had no idea Guido lived in California. I guess he moved there from Chicago
after retiring from "active duty".
By the way. One of my nieces married into "the family". It gets worse. Our
daughter married a guy whose dad is Italian and mother is Sicilian. Over
there I understand that it makes a difference. We do enjoy authentic Italian
food when we visit.

Cousin of mine's wife (of 40 years) maiden name was Pulpi. Used to >love< to visit, Mama P always put out a spread. And her daughters would start up an argument they'd been having for many years in Italian, which I don't understand at all. Every few minutes, one or the other would make some point atnd everybody would cross themselves.

I guess I owe Marty my most sincere thanks. I would never have gotten into
the business of front suspension on the GMC motorhomes if it hadn't been for
the collossal screwing I got from him when I was just a newby. I would
never have gotten the opportunity to install new hubs, knuckles and bearings
if his work had been with the correct parts, or done correctly.
Be very, very careful when dealing with this guy. Have all the work done
in the AM because he isn't going to return from lunch in the same posture he
started out in the morning.

Steve,
Well we all owe him thanks too then. When Double Trouble hits the west coast I'll stop by and thank him I person. You mind if I
mention your name? ;-)
So he's got an elbow problem, eh? He can't stop bending it over liquid lunch! ;-)

I saw his ad in the phone book and took a drive down there to scope the
place out. It's on a really back street location in an old part of downtown
and had the saddest collection of RV's on the lot, that I had ever seen.
Most in some major state of disrepair. If someone needs help in the San
Diego area, Ricks RV in El Cajon is a good choice. Very professional shop
and Paul, the service manager, is a really helpful guy. They have done
various work on my 2006 Beaver Monterey and always done a good job so when I
got the GMC, I took it there for a couple of things like flushing tanks and
etc.

This is pretty funny.
A vendor here told me his prices were from another planet ($600 for a Revcon Master Cylinder) So I have never done any business with him.
Over on the revcon forum there is an Emperor has no clothes" thing going on. He's got the only stash of a lot of Revcon specific parts and people say things like "his prices are a little high" and "he's getting kinda' old"
But this group has made him into road kill.
Having no fear of losing him as a friend makes a big difference.

I am fortunate to have some good friends that have repair shops and are willing to help on my GMC, but don't usually deal with these.
I always thought that most current RV dealers wouldn't be familiar enough with the GMC drivetrain to be of much help. The living facilities should be pretty standard, but anything mechanical probably should be left to carefully chosen shops.
A list of shops that are familiar with these GMCs is almost as good as the Black List. I thought I did see something posted at one time, but don't remember where as my old computer crashed and I haven't gotten around to retrieving the data yet.
