I lucked into a very nice back-up camera set (that will also show video!) and I'm wondering what the consensus is about mounting the camera. I've seen them on the roof, high on the window frame, or over the tire, and I've thought about mounting it inside the window.
I wonder if anyone here has an opinion about such things :-)
While I'm at it how about your favorite mount for the screen?

Wow John that is a beautiful solution. All the good stuff looking like it like it came that way. What model radio is that? Do you have a CB in there?

Larry, I have tried both, inside and outside. I did not have good luck with the inside one looking thru my tinted rear glass. And, at night it did not do well. So, I bought one, with night vision, and went ahead and drilled the holes. I have it mounted just above the rear glass, on the roof. I ran the coax down the crack between the body and glass mount, tapping it in with a rubber mallet. I still get some "wash out" if the sun hits it just right but it is minimal problem. Works great in the dark. We rarely plan night driving but end up doing it a lot.

Oh, I rainx the camera lense too. Works great.

Larry,
My back window is painted ,I have to use Mirrows to see in the rear.
I first installed an external rear camera and used an overhead 8 inch Moniter that flips down .While going down the Road ,it was hard to focus on the objects in view and then focus back on the Road again.
I installed another external Camera and a 16 inch TV on the Dash as close to the left as possible.
The objects are four times as large as the 8 inch and easier to see .
My head ,just has to turn to the right ,to moniter Traffic on the TV and back to the left, to see where I'm going ,everthing seems to stay in focus.
I have the rear camera's at different angles ,one looking down at the Toad.Ican select either cameras ,from the overhead Moniter.
A normal camera looks at objects left to right ,for a rear camera it needs to look right to left.
If you look behind your GMC and see a Mail Box on your left a normal camera will show it on your left on the Monitor and it should be on your right side

It's a Pioneer AVIC D2. There's probably a newer model now. Mine does not have a CB. I don't know if there is a add on module available.
I removed the tint just in front of the camera lens so that isn't an issue.
