At least 3 dead, scores injured in what one official describes as 'mass casualty situation'

I saw that. I use to go to the Reno air races almost every year up until 2001. In 2001 9/11 interfered with it and since then the GMCMI conventions always seem to interfere with the Reno Air races. I have been by Reno Steed airport several times since then but never during race week.

I was there the year a wing came off of the Lenertz airplane and he ended up in a subdivision.

It's sad to see that people were killed. I'm wondering what happened.

I'm assuming that Reno Steed is actually Reno-Stead.
Stead AFB was where I went through aircrew survival
school back in February 1963.

I very seldom go to airshows any more since I watched
Tom Jones auger in here in OKC quite a few years back.
I worked at a local FBO for almost three years after I
retired from USAF in early 1981. I had worked on some
of Tom's radios in a couple of his previous planes.

This is a tragedy. Some of you may not know that Bill Hubler (Hubler front
end conversion) lost his son Gary, a 3 time champion F1 pilot at the air
races in Reno several years ago. Just an extremely dangerous sport.

Thanks
