Does anyone know where GMC hid the flasher unit for the hazards? It's not at
the fusebox, I opened the dash and was able to locate the one for the turn
signals on a clip mounted to the steering column. The Hazards however, have
me stumped.

The flashers are located on the steering column down under the dash.

Jim,
2 things kept us away from the Convention, it was so close too! My
brother daughter was getting married and the other was that we are in
the process of moving mother (age 87) into her new apartment at the
same time. Just the perfect storm! Really wanted to be there but it
just couldn't happen. Already have plans for the coming Spring and
Fall conventions.

John,
I hope to have my own coach there in Oklahoma in the Spring.
Things happen, and sometimes there is no way to work around it.
It was a fine and great one for me as we had great attendance at or
booth and sold lot of the display items.

Ed,
On my 1974 GMC there is only one flasher for both the turn signals and the hazards. It's just to the right of the steering column behind the dash and is the typical 2 prong type like all the other GM cars of the era.
In addition to there being only one flasher this is the first car I have seen where the turn signals work without the key being switched on.

My 76 only had one flasher and it also worked with the key off.
So I wired in a 2nd flasher that worked off the ignition for the directionals . I don't remember why it was that way ( it was a long time ago)or if there was some kind of a problem . I didn't like it and the easy fix was a 2nd flasher.

Flasher related...
Gene F told me (when my turn lights quit) that un-plugging the flasher can on my '77 that the brake lights will work again.
Worked for me.

Ed,
Looks like on your GMC there are 2 flashers, one for the turn signals and one for the hazards.
In the maintenance manual for the 77-78 GMC's, pages 12-6 and 12-7 it says:
"Note that the turn signal flasher, formerly mounted with combined turn signal/hazard warning flasher, is now clipped to the steering column bracket below the instrument panel (at left side). The hazard warning flasher remains clipped to the instrument panel below the gauge cluster."
