Hi, I'm new to this forum, Hoping to get more involved.
I've imported a 1977 Eleganza 2 into Australia, and I'm in the process of getting it inspected for registration over here. One of the things the inspector needs is to sight the chassis number stamped somewhere on the actual chassis, not the ID plate. Does this exist or am I going to have to stamp it in myself to pass it? Also the engine number needs to be sighted on the block, can anyone tell me where it is located.
Many thanks.

I understand it is on the left frame rail, just forward of the mid-wheel, stamped upside down, without the "TZE", under the emergency (parking) brake cable bracket.

Sometime I really should look for it on one of mine. Rolling Eyes

Thanks, I've found the VIN on the chassis, now just to hunt down the engine number.
It's actually my dad that owns the Eleganza, I'm just the more tech savvy one with enough time to post about it Razz It's been a pretty interesting journey so far, I will get onto posting details of the work done to it so far sometime.
In fact he had it for a month or so parked out the front of our mechanic workshop and a couple heard about it who live 20 minutes away who have imported the exact same model RV a few months earlier! That's just Tasmania for you, small place, but coincidences are bound to happen. They actually had theirs booked in for one of the inspections this morning, but as they had no idea where the vin and engine number were to site it couldn't be passed, that's when I hopped on here to find out.
Anyway another hitch came up in the process, apparently because of its GVM it has to be converted to right hand drive Sad we were under the impression that as it was over 30 years old we wouldn't have to go through all that.

Phil,

I can't remember where the engine number is but I'm sure someone will respond.

Got some more bad news; you may also have to move the door to the other side.

Rob you know you can change your FORUM acct settings to not receive PM's. Then when someone tries to send you one, it cancels it and says you are not accepting them. Hope your email is there.
