Set off from Calgary last Friday to compete in Saskatoon Saskatchewan for the final Round of the racing series I run. On the way it was raining and very windy and while passing an oncoming semi a wind gust must have blown my gen door right off,
When I stopped to get gas, Well you can imagine "Devastated "Distraught" and a whole lot of other D's which I can not come up with.
I was quoted in saying the next day I would of rather lose a finger then a part of my Beautiful Coach,
Well the next day that was put to the challenge while trying to Qualify on the front row of my GP race I lowsided the bike at about 90 miles an hour and almost tore my thumb off!!
After a grueling next day racing with a big old swollen thumb I was now quoted in saying the gen door well maybe a little more important to keep my fingers.
My wife was an hour behind me and believe it or not found the door in three pieces.
Now I have to find a good door and paint match it.

Jay,

Finally figured out who had the picture of the nice dash as a work in progress. Have you finished it? If so we'd like to see more pictures. Hope the thumb is feeling better!

Hal,

I don't think it's Jay that's got the dash, IIRC he recently put a link to this photo asking if anybody knew who did it.

Note the billboard you can see through the windshield, it advertizes an auction in Summerland Key for Oceanfront Homes and Jay lives
in Calgary, AB, Canada. Don't think there's any ocean front homes there! ;-)

I seem to remember when the photo first surfaced, that it was part of a major change making a car hauler out of a 26 foot coach by two guys in Floria. Besides the dash it was getting large opening rear hatch with ramps. I do not know what type of car it was being built to haul.

I haven't seen or heard anything after that.

Note this is NOT the car hauler being made from a stretched 23 foot coach at the Coop.

Jay, I feel your pain. I check both doors before we leave and when we stop for gas. A few times I have found the generator door almost open. I guess I did not turn the latch hard enough. Dont want to lose mine, they have two colors on them. Jim K. sells the new ones if you can't find a good used one.

Jay,
More than likely, you'll need the hinge also.

When I first got my GMC back in 1981 I found that my generator door sometimes came unlatched on the rearmost side. I saw that the spring catch didn't engage as deeply as it should. I fashioned a small angle that would hold the catch properly. It has worked well all these years. Here is a picture of it.
