I installed Pergo flooring over the plywood using the foam padding recommended for that stuff and it is about the same as carpeting for warmth and sound, maybe better.

Glenn,

You don't mention the year of your GMC, my 1975 Avion (started life as a Transmode) had an insulated floor when it left the GMC
factory.

From ground up:

Aluminum sheet
3/4" foam
1" Plywood (maybe 3/4")

Regards,
Rob M.

Floor is free floating with minimum 1/4" around all sides but the sofa and the chair pedestals are bolted through it which makes it less than free floating. Here is a photo in my album - see the photos after it http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=35096

Your lower cabinets are interesting.  Did you build them yourself or purchase them from somewhere?  We are trying to find alternatives to the original which is not is such good condition anymore, and we do not have equipment to build.

It's 3/4". My 74 is 1" and the 75 with the foam and aluminum has 3/4" plywood.

If you're talking about under the floor - facing the road, I've been
wondering that myself. If I get a 73 or 74 I am contemplating spraying
Lizard Skin CI and SD under the flooring. It's a sound and temperature
insulator, class A fire rating and is a moisture barrier. It's been very
popular with the hot rod crowd for a while. I'm curious if any GMCer has
used it successfully.

If you are talking under the floor you should read the short article about 'Silent Running' by Chuck Botts at http://gmcws.org/blog/?p=336 He used it under his cockpit floor but it could be used anywhere.
