deer hunting in MN is coming up in a couple month's. it is time for me to think a little about heat, now that I have A/C.

Wave 6, or Wave 8 heaters? I am looking for dry camping. I could be using my GMC in 15 below temps.

last year I was running the furnace, and a Mr. heater big buddy heater. (I do know to keep ventilation). and have a couple co meters in the coach. sucked down alot of battery juice running the fans on the furnace.

any advice? other then to stay home at -15?

Our Bow season opens up this weekend. Heat is really not an issue here when i dry camped before we only had a small propane bottle heater. I have seen several types of heaters used before and most say our coaches have enough gaps to use propane but whatever you do use a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. that being said i would use this i too have been looking.

Yep, stay home.

The cat heaters are limited in output, think the wave 6 is 6000 btuh and the wave 8 is 8000 btuh. Your furnace is probably 30,000 btuh. If you were running the furnace and a Mr. Heater big buddy last year, I think you would have less output from the Wave than the Mr. Heater. And that is only an addition to the furnace.

Bring a Honda generator and use it with your existing converter/charger (hopefuly a good quality 3 stage unit) to keep your batteries up.

Don't hunters brag about being cold? Macho, macho man.

Jon, we use a Wave 6 in Arizona. Does us fine but we are not below zero. Wave 8 is pretty big.

A Wave 6 is more than adequate. Probablly drive you out on any but the
lowest setting. We used one for many years, never left a window open as the
coaches have very poor air tight integrity. Your Mr. Heater should have a
built in O2 monitor if it was mfrd within the past 4 years. It will shut
itself off when the 02 levels reach 5,200 ft alt level.

Other have given advice about the heaters. But there are other things to consider when using your coach is weather this cold.

I do know it takes a lot of energy to keep a stock GMC warm in cold weather.

From my reading here and the net, unless your coach has been modified for cold weather use (with added insulation and routing water lines next to or INSIDE the furnace heat vents) do not expect to use the water system. Winterize it and used bottled water. Black tanks and that plumbing will freeze up also.

I know my maserator has frozen up twice, at 12 degrees. Not a good feeling when you need the thing.
Oh well, I know Jon. He knows how to manage in the very cold weather.
Life is good,
