I'm getting ready to head to Goshen, and I've assembled most of the "stuff" for the trip.
Suggestions for my road kit?
Here is what I have so far:
fuel filters
distributor cap
rotor
spark plugs
jumper cables
flares
reflective triangles
compressor
tools
Schrader valve tool
flashlights
jackstands
jack (and adaptor)
WD40
Duct Tape
Starting Fluid
Dropcloth
Oil
Transmission Fluid
Coolant
Volt Ohm Meter
What else am I missing for a road "kit"?
What's proven to be useful to you (other than the kitchen sink... which the coach has<G>).
Of course I'm brining the camera an a few bushels full of questions (and my incredibly tolerant wife is looking for re-decorating suggestions).
Thanks.

For the record, I was well beyond "Conservative" and will pick up the bits tomorrow that will land me somewhere between "Paranoid" and "Real Paranoid"

You are missing the one thing not in your kit. If you have a kit of every
single part on a GMC minus one part, that is the one that will fail.

What's the GMC equivalent of a "Boat Buck"?
Or the Piper Ransom?
Who's Yaesu, and how come she's so expensive?
My wife knew this would be just one more Aluminum/Fiberglass/Electronic/Internal combusion mistress.....

If you include manual locking hubs when installing the 1 ton conversion kit, you could tow your "back-up GMC" behind your "in-use" GMC. (Doesn't everyone have at least two?)
( Kind of like those commercials that the guy pulls a whole car out of the trunk to continue on the couples way after getting disabled. )

Dolph,
The list is well thought, but let me advise that it is just not effective to carry things that can be easily acquired. Needless to say, this could change depending on where you intend to go.
I have added my comments to your list. As an offshore sailor, I am all for carrying spares, but the storage/weight committed to the spares must be considered.

Suggestions for my road kit?
Here is what I have so far:
fuel filters - OK - light and cheap
distributor cap - These three are easily
rotor ----------- acquired and not
spark plugs ----- common mode failures
jumper cables - - for others - you have a boost switch
flares --------------- Standard safety
reflective triangles - kit pieces
compressor - Tire pump? not one for air tools
tools - leave the complete 3/4 drive set home.
Schrader valve tool - little and cheap
flashlights - of course at least 2
jackstands - Think about the size and weight
jack (and adaptor) - Make sure it will lift a front wheel from flat
WD40 - OK, but add a good penetrant and some brake cleaner
Duct Tape - Of course
Starting Fluid - Delete - to easy to do damage
Dropcloth - carry a plastic tarp, many uses
Oil - Good
Transmission Fluid - Good
Coolant - too heavy - use water for limp mode.
Volt Ohm Meter - OK
What else am I missing for a road "kit"?
What's proven to be useful to you (other than the kitchen sink... which the coach has<G>).
Of course I'm bringing the camera an a few bushels full of questions (and my incredibly tolerant wife is looking for re-decorating suggestions).
Thanks.

Missing from your kit:
Spare fuses and light bulbs in the cheapest pistol case you can find.
HEI Module - Not cheap, but little and a common mode failure
Little container of anti-sieze
Soft iron wire - mechanics wire, bailing wire
Zip ties - untold uses
Schrader valves to 1/4 pipe - 2ea - to use to air-up the rear with the pump above.
A box of assorted sheet metal screws

Looks like there will be no room for any clothes other than what you're
wearing.
I would suggest leaving behind all the stuff easily obtainable at a local
Kragen, O'Reilly's, Pep Boys etc.
Like you, I first started traveling with what I considered high failure
parts. I eventually trimmed down to a small tool kit, a few plastic
plumbing fittings, and a couple extra qts of oil. The most important
emergency part will always be my cell phone, and Good Sam Emergency Road
Side Assistance card. Which, BTW, I have never had to use.

Matt,
I agree with you in principle, however, have you taken into consideration the quality of the parts you get from the big box parts
stores?

Back when the earth was still cooling and dinosaurs walked among us, I learned to travel on business from one of the best, a guy by the name of Herb Jaffee.
He encouraged me to initially travel "heavy", and then to pare it back... and he pretty much told me what it would look like in the end. I now pack for a week in a computer bag.
Since an RV is a do it yourself kit on wheels, and I've always held to the belief that I won't hire an executive who didn't have at least one tool in his desk, there is a certain amount of "I HAVE TO bring tools".
All this means I'll soon be traveling with a Hammer, a screwdriver, duct tape, WD40 and a credit card.

You also have to consider the condition of your coach. I.E. How long has it been a "rolling coach", how much maintenance it has had, the quality of that maintenance, how reliable the coach has been in the past.
While a well maintained rolling coach should make fairly long trips without any real attention (other than gas and oil) bringing home a coach that has been sitting behind the barn for 20 years might need a LITTLE more attention.
A note: I understand that "Steven Ferguson owned" and "well maintained" are about the same thing.
