I have exhausted the main sources in Oklahoma City area
for a small item for my wife's 2002 Ford Explorer. Just ahead of the lift gate, there is a small compartmentunder the floor that serves to hide a few items from viewand provides access to the jack and associated items. There is a cover for that area that has a folding handleto lift the cover. Ours got broken and none of the localsalvage outfits have the handle piece. Ford wants $70 for1/4 ounce of plastic and that's ridiculous. If anybody isout prowling the yards for GMC parts has a chance to takea look, the one I'm looking for matches a beige/sand/taninterior. I think Explorers 2002 to maybe 2006 use thatsame part.

I may have to buy the whole latch assembly that is a pressfit into the cover panel. Thanks if anybody could help. Best regards,

Have you tried just running a search for the part number on the net? Just
make sure you include used. I used to have an Explorer and that is how I
found most parts I needed , I could never afford the dealer prices.

Mac,

I would suggest taking a picture of the cover and posting it to the Photo Site.

Regards,
Rob M.

Checking Pick-n-pull inventory, the newest Explorer on any lot near here (Portland OR) is a 2000.

we probably have 25/30 2002 up explorers at out facility in duncan,sc where I am employed..........there are several of our stores in your area, but they may not be accessable to the general public(like me and you)...some of our locations are new aftermarket parts only, others are self service(you-pull-it) only, some are wholesale only(legit shops and dealerships) and others are mixed..............our plant is 90% wholesale and 10% walk-in retail......due to the latest EPA,DHEC,and OSHA restrictions is has become VERY expensive to operate the modern day envirnomental friendly recycling yard and sometimes searching for smaller parts it is not cost effective at some of our facilities.............if no one out there can help you, email me the info and photo of the exact piece and we will round one up at our duncan,sc facility and ship to you at a very fair price..... ........
