I'm at a loss -
Tomorrow (Friday) morning, I'm going to have a new set of tires (all 6) installed on my coach. I've ordered them thru a rather large truck tire distributor in our area (Pomp's Tire, Elgin, Il).
When ordering them I told the store manager what kind of coach they were for and, of course, he said, "no problem". Told him I would wait while they were being installed & balanced.
Just went thru my owners/maintenance/service manuals to try to refresh myself as to just how the coach should be raised to perform this tire change and can't seem to find the info anywhere. - Also tried a bunch of sites on the Net without success.
Just wanted to put this info in my mind to that no 'tire jockey' tries to raise the sides, front or rear like they would a car or truck.
Anyone have any ideas as to where I can look??
Thanks,
Steve Nowak

Steve,
If you have a maintenance Manual (MM)
Look in section 0 for Hoisting Instructions.
If you do not, go to:
url<http://www.bdub.net/manuals/X7525/index.html>
and download the manual now,
Remember to let the air off the rear suspension as soon as the weight is on the jack/lift as you may blow a shock if you do not.
Frank Sargent of Thetford fame had one of the very first GMC in the area, and the local dealer broke it when they tried to lift it for some warranty service. He got a new coach.

The hoisting information is in the operating manual (page 70 for my Palm Beach) under the maintainance section.
Basically, under the bogies and using the front frame rail (not under the radiator however).

Steve,
I'd like to compliment you on doing your "homework" and looking through the
manuals first!
IMO there are a number of places to safely jack up a GMC:
1) under the front crossmember
2) under the rear bogies
3) under the section where the front frame overlaps the side rail
YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN JACKING ONE FRONT WHEEL AS YOU CAN CRACK A
WINDSHIELD. Only raise the GMC high enough to get the wheel off.
It would not be a good idea to jack it up under the single frame as is could
get bent upwards.

Rob M.

always a good idea, and here is the place
http://goo.gl/XYHvR
in general, I have them support the middle of the bogie, then I remove
the air and the tires will raise them selves.
hard to raise the GMC with the air on

I had my tires and wheels changed at the local Big O down the street from
me. I told them about where to put the jacks. I didn't say a word about
air in the rear. I did warn them about the large windshield and it's
sensitivity.
They jacked the front behind the front wheel just high enough to do the
job. Just as I said. No problem. The moved to the rear and put a bar
across the jack and raised the rear. Smart guys. They understood without
being told. No problem.
Later I had them remove the tires from the rims and put in balancing
powder. No argument. No problem. No charge.
Happy customer.

Got the "project" done....The installation of my new Firestone tires that is. Went off without a hitch!
Just wanted to thank you to all of you guys that responded to my query about how to jack the coach up.
This Net or should I say the folks on this Net are really the greatest....I've never had a problem or question come up that someone on here didn't come up with the right answer.
Thanks again!!!
