Can someone tell me if the 455 G head came on the GMC motorhome? If not, are they a good head to use?

Sir: to the best of my knowledge the motorhomes used the J head, small valve smog heads. They have more torque at the <3000 rpms that the motorhome runs. The G head was standard 455 in 1971 and do have hardened valve seats and possibly rotaters. It could have small intake valves (2.0) same as motorhome or it could have the larger 2.072 intakes. Both have 1.625 exhaust. 80cc combustion chamber on the G head, the J head was either 80cc or 82cc. I would think the G head would work well on the motorhome. The 1970 F (W-30) is the rare ones.

There are a few of us sickos that would love to have a 1970 W-34 Toro engine. Here is some info on the heads.

I have a pair of bare, tanked, G heads but I haven't checked the seat
diameters. They're available if anyone needs them (some J heads too, not
tanked or otherwise checked).

"J" heads were used from 1974 to the end of 455 production. 1973 GMC's
had "G" heads

Thanks everyone for your responses.

The PO of my coach put a 455 in my 1978 Royale and I saw it had it had G
heads. I knew the 1978 models didn't come with a 455 and just wondered if
the heads were off of another GMC motorhome engine or not.

I also have a spare set of rebuilt G heads. I'll check and see what size
intake valves are in those heads.
