To anyone who ever met our FischenDog and told us, "cool dog!" please know he is very unwell and is on a therapy to give us a period of grace to adjust to the fact that he will be leaving us soon. His kidneys are failing for whatever reason and there is no cure. He came to share our lives as a beautiful 8week old pup in July of 2002. He is the world's greatest Weimeraner, at least to us. My grandma told me once that we are all only on loan to each other so we better enjoy the loan while it lasts. 9 years is not long enough for me but........ So now that we are seeing canine loan #4 coming to an end you'd think that it would get easier to say good bye. But it's not and it never will be. So to all of yous and yours, enjoy all your loans . Peace to all Cherie,Dean and FischenDog Klakoski

Yep, know what you mean. I am sorry to hear that. Been down that road and have chosen not to do it again, at least for a while.
Best wishes.

When we allow or dogs to worm their way into our homes ad hearts, we incur the resonsibility to do what is best for them.throoughout their lives.  And when the quality of there lives is no longer reasonable it is our final responsibility to Send them on their way.
It get no easier as time goes on.  He will tell you when it is time to leave, and you will do what you must.    And as you have been blessed with him time in this world you are also blessed for caring as you do.  You cannot replace a dog, but when the time is right there wil be another who needs your love and attention.  Give them.

with sympathy

What can I say, enjoy the time you have with Fischen. And you are correct, a very "cool" dog.

Cherie and Dean,

I was hoping to meet FischenDog at Goshen.
You got to meet Cadeau at DuQuoin.
She is not our first, but those now gone live with us still.

thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Yes, we were going to bring the Fisch with us to Goshen so everyone could share the fun of hearing him "sing in the key of Weimeraner, AHHHHG!!!! THEY LEFT ME, MY WORLD IS ENDING WITHOUT THEM!!!" Okay, it wouldn't be fun to hear for most people and in fact we didn't like when he did it either but now I wish I could hear him do it for a few more times anyway. Right now with how his is we don't even know if we are going to make it to Goshen. I hate being up in the air about things!!!

I have attachments to my pets as they live with me as extended family. I have gone through this, the most recent Osteo Sarcoma.

With each event I am devastated as much as I know you are. Enjoy your dear friend as long as you can, sometimes we take pictures for a fond rememberance. I was lucky to get Gatsby barking on a recording and sometimes I bring it up just to remember.....

My heart is with you as I have been there. Keep him/her comfortable and enjoy the times.

Dean & Cherie,

Our thoughts are with you and FischenDog. Love is always good, but sometimes hurts.

Dean and Cherie

I have walked the path to Rainbow Bridge with two dogs and I have one now that is beginning the journey. I feel your pain. May you find comfort in your memories.
