Mother nature is just mean.... Crying or Very Sad

Last week there was a quick little storm that went through my area in the middle of the night. When I went out in the morning I found a tree branch had bashed in the passenger windshield.

Anybody have one from a coach that's being parted out?

Ken

Assuming that you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance policy then your insurance should pay for a new one (less your deductible). If you live in Florida there would be no charge to you as that state has a law that glass breakage has no deductible.

Did you call your insurance company (assuming you have the coach insured)? There is often a zero deductable on windshield glass (if I remember correctly).

If not, Ken Burton has a friend that installs the windshields in NW Indiana, and I believe the windshields are available in the Elkhart, IN area. I understand that there are two manufacturers of the windshield glass, and one fits better than the other.

I was quoted 441 per side by a local glass shop. I'll let you know how it goes.

Excuse me for not being my usual wordy and sporadically verbose self. This message is sent from my iPhone.

I have one in the basement that I was saving as a template to cut some windshield covers. I just checked it and unfortunately it has a big crack across it so you do not want it.

How big of a rush are you in for it? The next time my friend replaces a right one I can ask him to save the old one if it is not broken. They usually do not take much care when removing the old ones since they are going in the dumpster. So I'll need to tell him to be careful with it when removing it. Also you knwo it will be fogged around the edges. All of them are after 30 years.

Unfortunately most GMC windshields get replaced in the spring or early summer. It might be two weeks or 6 months until he has another removed one available.

It is a 500 mile round trip down here to pick it up. I usually pick up the new ones in my Blazer just riding flat on a piece of foam with foam between the multiple windshield halfs. I moved 5 sets this way one time.

Thanks for the offer but yesterday was my lucky day. Very Happy

Powerjohn got in touch with me and he's got a used one out in his barn right here in Michigan. I'll head up within a week or two to pick it up.
