It's being auctioned by a museum, so perhaps it was an exhibit and Camin was the donor?

I hadn't even noticed the plaque but doing some internet snooping I think I found it. Go to http://www.canim-yacht.com/yacht/ and look at the photos at the lower left and, I'm convinced, the plaque you see is the same plaque. If you go to the long list of owners you will see that the yacht was, at one time, owned and refurbished by a couple from Boston.
As Shultz would say, Veddy interesting!

So, the Royale must have been the "chase vehicle" for the yacht?
Interesting derivation of a name, Canim. According to the site the word
means "big chief canoe". Nice canoe. Why couldn't Paul Allen be satisfied
with something like that.
It has an interesting history (the yacht). It was once owned by the
Cummins family which is why it got the twin diesels.
I did see the plaque. Odd that it would be on the floor in the rear of the
Royale when the photo was taken. Of course, this could be "big chief canoe
on wheels".

Thanks Bill,
None of my searches found that. The dimensions sure fit the plaque. I did not see the plaque on the Canim site, but I didn't stay long. (Less than 4000Hp and no sails.)
It is not a schooner Canim that I knew as a child. She is either at a museum someplace or has been a bonfire by now.

Actually, the coach is not part of a museum collection. In almost every auction, these vehicles were donated to the museum and the proceeds used to help the museum pay its operating costs, including the staff (many of them unpaid volunteers) to restore the vehicles chosen for display in the exhibits. Some of the proceeds go towards acquisitions of the exhibited vehicles, but in many cases all of the vehicles are a product of local loving care.
I knew a few of these restorers when I lived in the area and we all hung out together as members of a local sporting club and was blessed with being able to see the extraordinary works going through. I actually donated the rear axle to a 1969 Boss 302 restoration by the local prison workshop who found a boneyard Boss bare body, a matching year Boss 302 crate motor and thousands of hours in labor produced a very original car that was auctioned for over $85K.

It looks like a good buy to me also. (I wonder who bought it.)
A Sidebath Birch in good shape, much better starting point than my '77. Oh Well.... it was a long ways from here (Oregon) anyway.
Time to get back to my list...
We have a trip in four weeks that should include two rallies. (I do not get to make it to very many of them.)
Mike Miller -- Hillsboro, OR -- on the Black list
