we made it home with really no trouble at all. well other then no A/C and the genny will run but doesn't seem to be producing power.
and we didn't check any of the "house systems" as we didn't want extra weight or concerns as we drove. will start with the easy stuff tomorrow, like getting the onan to provide power.
Oh and how often should the suspension compressor run? I don't remember it running at all the first couple of days and yesterday I replaced a 30 amp in-line fuse with a 20amp fuse while testing the genny for A/C.
will follow the line and see where it goes.
just so glad to have her home now to get ready to go out camping!

Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.

Adam,
Congratulations on a trouble free trip home.
The first two easy fixes for the Onan...
-- is it plugged in? Large plug in the power cord compartment..
-- is the breaker at the top of the Onan turned to on?

Suspension compressor runs when the pressure in the tank drops low enough to activate the Penn switch (located on the tank). If it is not running, you may have enough air in the system to do the job as intended. You could check the fuse and see if they are blown as a case of the compressor not running. But, if the air bags are at the right height/pressure, and does not leak down, the system may not cycle.
A useful idea is to isolate the power line with a relay, and use a higher gauge wire, direct from the battery to the compressor. I think that GMC engineered the gauge of wire to the compressor too closely, and it should be a lower gauge. Don't forget to fuse the wire.
All of this applies to the original Power Level system.
Tom Phipps, with a relay in line.

Adam;
We owned a '73 Canyonlands before obtaining our current '78 Eleganza II.
One Hot August we stopped for a few days at Burns Park in N Little Rock Arkansas
and were plugged in to shore power during several 105 degree temperature days.
As we were leaving the park in that heat I disconected the power cord from the park source
But Failed To Connect The Large Power Cord Plug Back In The Outside Power Cord Compartment..
That Entire Day And 372 Miles The Onan Toiled But The Roof Air Conditioners Would Not Work.
That evening when we pulled into a site at Crab Orchard Lake Illinois I saw my mistake ~
I shut down the generator, reached into the power cord compartment, plugged
the large power cord into the socket, started the Onan and PRESTO "Both Roof A/Cs Worked" ~
I never mace that mistake again ~ LOL ~
~ Joe ~
is it plugged in?

Blow up suspension where you want it and flip switch away from Auto to
Travel.
