Well, I do know that it's a little long to put in the back<G>
All joking aside, after having rebuilt the rear and the transmissions on far too many of them, it's probably no worse than any vehicle not designed to be towed.
Those rebuilds were for racing purposes, not from towing.

Thanks,
That would be Walt Taylor, I think he tows the older rotary engine Mazdas
on a trailer. I've tried a few of the RV forums and those guys are all over
the map, most supposition based opinions. I don't see why a manual trans
car couldn't be towed four down, but looking for specifics of folks that
have done this. I have a chance to pick one for very little, has both tops
too. Hate to pass up a 2,000 towable vehicle.

thanks for the info dolph. I would expect the same wear and tear that
comes with regular driving and I'm of the philosophy that anything with a
manual trans can be towed.

Steve,
This MX5 would have been a 5 speed has the box been changed out to a 6
speed?
I just last Saturday sold a 1990 at a low price here for A$4300 done 134,000
klms had it 8 years and put about 100kms on it How does that compare to USA
prices?
I had 3 at one time with the intention of racing one but best laid plans
went amiss and it never happened so now they are all gone.
Fun car but a little squeezee for a 6 footer with the hood up.

Peter,
I haven't driven it yet. I'm looking at $3,500 with both tops. 100K miles
on it. I had an XL deputy friend in San Diego that managed to fit into one
so I figured there'd be no problem with me. Maybe it is a 5 speed, itis a
1990 also. I'll head over there today and drive it.
TX for the translation Rob.

TX for the input Matt. With the info provided here and visiting the website
links, I read where many have towed the Miata tens of thousands of miles
with no ill effects. In 2002 I bought a new Civic, 5 speed, 2.300 lbs and
the deal breaker was whether or not it could be towed 4 down. The manual
said no, a call to American Honda said yes. Towed the thing thousands of
miles with no problem except for weird tire wear due to caster or camber
changes because of the FWD (pulling vs pushing).
