Hello from Evart Michigan.
The home of the annual Original Dulcimer Players Funfest.
So, Where in Hell is Evart?
No, not in Hell, that is about 25mile NW of Ann Arbor.
Evart is about half way between Ludington and Midland.
What is it near? => Nothing, but at least I have 3G so I can tether the laptop to the googlephone. That way, I can read the forum and answer e-mail.
That is one great thing about traveling by coach. You Know exactly what will be there when you arrive. The only real question is broadband coverage.

There are about 5 other GMC coaches here from Great Lakers. Most are people we know, but I have only talked to one as of this morning.

Enjoying the coach as usual.

Matt

I think you mean to say half way between Ludington and Muskegon. I really do need to get connected to the Great Lakers. sorry it has not happened sooner. Maybe the post rally rally this fall. I am between Maple City and Glen Lake, if we are referencing betweens.

Matt,

Keep an eye out for Gordie and Carol James. They have a Royale and are also Saguaro Jetsetters. Nice couple. She plays the Hammered Dulcimer.

We have already seen the coach, but not any James as yet. We will keep looking.

Mac,

If I say both it would be accurate, but disingenuous. There are lots of Appalachian, but they are far outnumbered buy hammered. And that includes all kinds of hammered. Think of any you have ever seen and there is one here, but there are also more than a few you could ever have imagined.

If there is a stringed instrument, it is represented here with the possible exclusion of harpsichord (they are not real portable).

There was a concert section last evening that featured 180 (yes XXCC) hammered dulcimers and also some other performers.

No Mike,

Look again. Evart is on Rt-10 and 60 miles from both Ludington and Midland. And, there isn't Jack along the way either way. Your drive here would be about as long as mine. the roads don't go that way.

Yes, you should hook up with Great Lakers. Not that I can boast, this is out second season as members and we still have yet to make a real rally.

By the way, In cross reference to another thread, Gordie is a retired airline pilot who learned to fly in the RCAF, where he was "privileged to fly with the Snow Birds" for a while.

Tell them hi for me, please.

Michael,
There are a group of Great Lakers that do the Dulcimer Festival each
year and have done it for over 20 years. Several of them do play and
go to learn each year. We had a rally there about 3 years ago and do
get to the festival sometime.

Yea, it is on M20 and depend on where you live makes it half way
between.

If your interested there is a Great Lakers rally in Midland this
coming weekend at the big Antique Festival. Most at the Dulcimer
festival will be heading for Midland after the first of the week. For
more info you can contact Dale Frahm @ 989 652-6six one 6. Already
have more than 30 coach pre registered for the event. We do have some
space for late comers but you must call first.

OK first to admit I screwed up. I was thinking Hart and Pentwater park on Lake Michigan. Yes, I know Evart, just one of many senior moments as of late. My bad! Hope you are having fun. We are off to circumnavigate Lake Superior with side trip to South Dakota Thursday. Hope to see at least one GMC besides ours.
