When I was younger, we had a Ford 2000 3-cylinder diesel that had plenty of power to do anything required on the farm. We rode that tractor hard & it always did what it was asked to do. Maintenance consisted of a daily greasing of all zerks with moly grease, plus regular oil changes. The tractor was used from can to can't every day during the growing season. It didn't have all the modern luxuries that new tractors have now. It was all strictly business, but it was very stout for it's size. I've seen a few ads for them asking around $3500-$4000. They cost around $5700 new.
One thing commonly done was to fill the tires with water/antifreeze mix for 600 lbs weight each.
