I know no one wants to talk tires. But my Goodrich TA's are worn and 7 years old so I need new. The Costco tire guy says no more $70 sales on Goodrich. Right now it is $100 off on 4 Bridgestone and the Bridgestone M700 225 75 16 is only $10 more each then the Goodrich Commercial TA's before the discount. The Bridgestone tread is more agressive for off the pavement but the survey says it is as quiet riding as the TA's any suggestions? Has anyone bought these tires and liked or not liked them? A little better traction with out road noise would be a plus?

Roy,

I have no experience with that particular tire, but I wouldn't worry about road noise out of them. Unless you have (a.) REALLY sensitive hearing and/or (b.) a REALLY quiet coach, you won't notice a little tire noise. I am running BFG All Terrain KO's on the front of my coach:

They "sing" a little, probably more than these Bridgestone's would, and I barely notice it, and then, only when I first start driving it.

Be careful when buying RV tires at Costco. They are old!! They don't turn over RV tres nearly as fast as Discount Tire and can be a year old when you buy them. Read your date codes. Discount Tire is a much better place to buy RV tires. Prces are about the same.

Roy,

I run Kumho KL-78's on Double Trouble and the tread pattern is very similar
to Carl's BFG's. I haven't noticed that they are noisy.

Thanks guys my hearing is lousy so I'll go with the more aggressive tires the wind and engine wine is mostly what I hear anyway. As far as old tires go my luck was opposite never got a tire older then a couple of months at Costco but I got 4 tires from Discount Tire in Palm Springs area that were 4 years old. I guess it is the luck of the draw.Only problem with Costco they have to order them but I let them know if they are more then 4 months old they go back.

I got my last set of tires from Costco in August 2010.

I asked the Costco sales/service personnel, that when the tires I ordered came in, to email me the manufacture date of the tires. I made it very clear that I would not accept any tire that had been manufactured before June 2010.

He was very accomodating and when the tires arrived at Costco, he emailed me the manufacture date of each tire (they were all manufactured in July 2010)and these were in fact the dates of the tires that were installed on my rims.

I took pictures of the tire manufacture date on each tire and noted the wheel location on the coach before re-installing them on the Texas Tux just so I would remember.

I find that Costco cannot stock everything, and most of the less common tires have to be ordered from their suppliers. Today there are a huge number of special sizes, brands, tread patterns and so on, and no one can stock them all. Since Costco deals with warehouses and suppliers who cary a lot of tires, and have a reasonably rapid turnover, I would not worry about it. If you want to be sure, make a condition of the sale that the date codes are not over x months old.

My personal opinion is that the tire aging issue is being overblown here on the forum. Pay attention to inflation pressure carefully and go RV ing.

Costco is very interested in keeping the customer happy even with a special order there is no restocking fee. I went down today and canceled my Goodrich order that had come in and ordered my Bridgestone Duravis M700 tires.I didn't see any Goodrich tires of any type on the racks only Michelin & Bridgstone. They are coming from the Oregon supplier and I won't know the Dot #'s till they arrive
$1,031.94 out the door.I also went to a local auto wrecker and got a Firestone rim off an '86 Dually for my spare(#28177) $35. I checked it on the front and it cleared the 80mm caliper by a fraction.

Maybe so, but I'll bet Stick Miller won't agree. Two weeks ago he was
ready to replace two of his tires. We checked the date codes on all
his tires and chose the oldest, dated 2004 (20th week of 2004) for
scrapping. Last week he took the coach on a trip and threw the tread
of the passenger side rear tire. Which turned out to be THAT tire!
The dealer scrapped a newer tire and left that one, which I personally
heard Stick tell him to discard, on the coach.

In a way, Stick was lucky: He was able to stop with air still in the
tire so it did only minor damage to his fender flare, the LPG
compartment door, and the air bag, which was apparently punctured in
at least two places by the thrown steel belt.

Yeah Ken that's exactly where my tires on the dot#'s are and that is the exact same damage I had from my last set of tires except the T skirt went by by.

How new are your brake pads? You'll have less clearance the newer your pads are. ... just keep that in mind in case you have a flat on the front after putting in new pads. If you have a problem, you can always move a rear wheel to the front and put the spare on the rear.

Good point they still have good friction material on them and the rotors are getting a little worn though but Ok. Costco got the new tires in today and said the DOT numbers were 0411 (5 1/2
months old) I was hoping for 2 or 3 months but I guess I can live with it.
